They plan to ban player who do not contribute?But what if you are just bad at the game? I like to play, but at almost 50 years old and kind of new to FPS underperforming is my normality and I have little hope to be good.Will that mean I will be banned?I didn't asked to be placed with better team mate!It's just the stupid game has no match making and now the game itself will add additional punishment for being bad. Isn't dying constantly enough of a punishment?!Kind of confused where this is going...At any rate what does it matter if you have good team mate that win game for you.Since there is no rank, what does it matter? :o

You can be bad but still participate. It likely means you shoot and might hit a target. But you can't not-participate and say you're bad (you didn't say this, I just use general 'you' here) or good. If you don't participate, you do absolutely nothing.

As for you, if you're bad, you'll die. So you shouldn't be wary of getting banned because you won't be piggybacking

Sometimes I die having done 0 damage.
I hope it won't be hold against me by the game engine! :/

I never understood the need to “fix” anything like this. I’ve played this game a LOT (mostly randoms) and only once have I ever come across a player that just sat in a corner and only moved to get to the next circle.

This likely happends extremely early in the game (first 2 mins) or maybe even mid-game (5-7 mins). But it's almost unthinkable to have a 15 minute match where your teammate(s) has/have high score(s) and you did 0 damage. It can happen once or twice in a period but not consistently. That's why I don't think you need to worry.
The code for this 'fix' likely won't look at one game but a series of games.

In my opinion, you can be calm. Their definition of Piggy-Backing as described by EA_David here is:
PIGGY-BACKING
Piggy-backing is when a player drafts off other players in the squad to carry them to a good position and level up faster but doesn't actually participate in the match [meaning they never collect a weapon, fire a shot, don’t deal any damage, etc]

So, if you collect weapons, shoot at the enemy (and hit 1 of 10 bullets like me), you should be alright.

@RandomCZ yea but what if the piggy backers know the conditions. Then they'll also pick up weapons and do as little as possible. How will that be any different from others who are extremely bad at gaming in general. Not an actual question/attack on what you said, but more my future process of how they'll maintain this not-so future proof definition.

People used to refer to this as 'leeching' which may be a term which people perhaps wouldn't understand the meaning of. So it's called 'piggy-backing' now. In economics, according to Wikipedia, it's also known as 'free-riding'.

I think this is mainly a problem caused by people who want to get XP and level up effortlessly. Something like Boosters. So such an individual doesn't want to run around with the team, collect weapons or shoot. Apparently he probably wants to jump into the middle of the map, somewhere where he won't be seen and is AFK until the zone kills him. Alternatively, he moves from time to time to get into the next zone. For example, he gets to lvl 80 and then sells the account with everything he has gained (skins, materials & stuff). The buyer gets an account that has 0 kill, 0 dmg, etc. and has lvl 80.
So I would say that the problem is not the player who plays the game badly, but rather the one who doesn't play it at all.

This may very well be the case but this is highly unlikely on consoles cause you'd need to buy a whole account. I don't know how it's on pc so I can't speak for that platform.

I know this is a broadly used tactic for mmorpg's to get a high lvl account but for consoles, this just doesn't make sense. Only way to get this done would be to make a new account altogether with (new) email, lvl the account up and then try to sell it. 2 problems with this approach. First, why would a buyer want another email and password, when the supplier can add mobile insurance to the account to counter it getting 'hacked' and thus get the account back pretty easily. Second, on xbox you can only play apex if you buy xbox live gold. So I hardly think a supplier will buy live just to do nothing in a game only to sell it to someone.

This is my thought process tho. If you have some knowledge I'm in the dark about, do let me know.
