The charge rifle has one fatal flaw: it shoots a tracking laser for 3 damage first. Following the basic mechanics of any shooter: always have cover nearby. You can easily dodge the majority of shots AND now you know exactly where the enemy is. Sidestep, crouch, jump etc if cover isn't immediately available. I rarely take full shot unless i'm peaking to snipe them as well.
TLDR: get good, easy to dodge charged shot.
@Pallo420 Sry man, I totally disagree. I know from being shot with the thing and using the it that it is not that easy to dodge at all. I can be running at full speed, dodging sliding or zig-zagging and I can still take 50-80 dmg off just one hit. And when using it I can still deal dig damage to players who are doing the same... if you can track a player with a 301 you can track a player with the charge rifle, difference is the charge has no recoil to deal with, no travel time and no drop. The tracking laser is even a help as it allows you to not be 100% on target but you can use it to line the shot up before the charge hits. There's no doubt at all that in its current state this is a cheap weapon with which it is way too easy to do big dmg.
There's just no truth to what you say, playing against it is very, very hard.. once the tracking is on you if you stop to shoot bk you could be looking at 100+ dmg before you've even had time to line up your first shot. The beam itself can make aiming back harder, distracting you from the target. I myself am an average player, not especially high level and not completely awful, I see how easy it is to do consistent damage with the charge rifle compared to any other weapon, and over quite ridiculous ranges as well. If they want to keep the dmg output the same (which I am not against actually) then they need to drastically increase the skill cap for getting that high dmg... lengthen the charge time (so you have to hold ur target longer) and/or give the weapon more recoil to control during the shot.
I guess if your dmg and kills suddenly went up when the weapon was introduced then you may be reluctant to see changes, but imo it's dominating the game far too much atm. I love the 301, but taking that now when you're up against 15-20 charge rifles every round leaves me feeling impotent, no other weapon has unbalanced the game that much... even the longbow when is was too OP after one update way back when (before S2 I think, they upped the fire rate) didn't unbalance the game to this degree.
And btw, "git gud" is a pretty gay answer to any gaming related question, so well done there.

I think people got confused with the Charge Rifle nerfs and the Event coming. When we learned the Charge Rifle was getting a nerf and the Halloween Event Release Date. Everyone thought the nerfs and balance changes would go live the same day. We were wrong.
I think the dev video should have been a little more clear when to expect these upcoming balance changes and tweaks.
I personally hope the Charge Rifle nerf is with the Fire Range update. My only problem now is that I don't want to wait another 3 weeks for such a change. I want to finish grinding Rank. Rank is not fun when you are getting laser miles away from a third party or when you run into a team where all three of them have a Charge Rifle.
