Valueless sniper rifle.

In today's rank matches, the G7 and the one-off hemlock are in full swing.
In particular, the G7 has a high continuous shooting speed, and the damage is great.
Is there any value in sniper life? No, as long as these two exist.

Depens on your play style. I for one prefer to push with a R99 + Wingman or PK but it can also be quite entertaining (and effective) to agree within the team that everyone picks up a mid-to-long range weapon and then you only go for third-parties on safe distance.

I actually think its a very good way to gain RPs in Diamond+ matches, especially if you know you havent predator level aim yet still have to play against them. A  full squad of three charge rifles can get you and your team quite many free downs and kills/assist with low risk of getting killed yourself if you only go for third parties at super long range. Cheezy put effective.

  • @CieAtelier Those two are better for mid range, as they aren’t as capable as the snipers at longer ranges.
It more boils down to if you want to shoot once and do high damage or shoot 5 times and do high damage.
Also, snipers get access to sniper optics, which I believe are useful when sniping. (Although I rarely snipe, so I’d usually use 2x4)
  • I disagree. As someone who also loves both the G7 and the Hemlock I can say there is quite a lot of value in Snipers. Especially the Charge Rifle and the Triple Take. Granted it'll depend on your play style, but the Snipers still hold their own against the assault rifles.

  • One of my favorite snipers is the longbow, as I can shoot pretty quickly. Since it deals about 55 dmg per shot, I can get a lot of damage done, and it is very useful at mid-range. (With a smaller scope, of course.)

I think the snipers are currently in an underdog spot.
Never underestimate someone that uses the snipers frequently.

The G7 and hemlock are great but when you are out their effective range a longbow will make sure you regret that you fired the first shot.

  • I agree, most snipers, maybe all, are underpowered.  The Kraber is the only sniper rifle that really does its job.

Of them all, the Sentinel and Charge rifle are the worst.  Right now, because they don't do enough damage, you need the multiple shots of the Triple Take or the Longbow if you are going to use them.  But yeah, I'd rather have an assault rifle with a good scope.

  • @KelRiever The charge rifle is good, as it is a hit scan weapon, which makes hitting shots easier.
The Sentinel isn’t exactly a 1-shot takedown weapon. It would take 3 body shots to knock someone, although much less if you 3rd party or hit a head host. It works well, and a one way to use it is to use it to whittle down opponent’s meds or just deal a ton of damage in one shot you you can rush.
The Triple Take is another aim-forgiving sniper, as it’s 3 shots are spread out horizontally. Not the best dps, but pretty consistent damage as well as being able to hit easily.
The Longbow is pretty good, as it does about 50 a shot, and has an unusually high rate of fire.
