Weapon Changes for Season 3 That I would Love to See
I'm slowly getting burned out of Season 2. Don't care much for solos and it's not for me. Maybe Duos will be for me. But what I am looking forward to is the next wave of Weapon Buffs, Nerfs and new Legend Balance changes for Season 3. At the moment, here's a list of weapons change suggestions from me personally:
Assault Rifles
R-301 Carbine - Currently nothing wrong with this weapon after the new nerf change to recoil randomness at longer range. I think it was needed to be honest. The only bad thing about this weapon is the clip size honestly. It's 18 by default but you would normally think it should be something like 20/22/25/30. Increasing the default and level 1 by 2 bullets each and the level 3 by 2 bullets.
VK-47 Flatline - Honestly, only change I would give this weapon is a barrel attachment. It's so random in the recoil that using the entire clip on someone in front of you will miss them. The damage on this weapon is good and it sucks at long range which is intended. 301 is better at long range than this weapon still, but this weapon does more damage at close/mid range. Only issue is it struggles with landing your shots unless you're a god or lucky with the recoil. This weapon also destroys people with 5% more damage against them due to it doing 20 damage body and 40 headshot towards them (Lifeline/Wraith/Pathfinder).
Hemlok Burst AR - One of the most underrated weapons in the game. I don't see how people can beam others with this weapon but it's possible. Only change to this weapon is to improve recoil at longer ranges and to increase based clip size to 21 from 18. The clip mags are fine since level 1 is 24 followed by 27 and then 30. So why is the default clip size at 18 when it should be 21? Makes sense right? As for range, the weapon does poorly at longer range when it can be a beast at longer range with the right scopes on it. Yet, it doesn't do what it's meant to do. Burst is meant for close/mid range. Single is meant for longer range. This weapon is intended to outclass the 301 and Flatline at longer ranges but it doesn't.
Havoc Rifle - Honestly no changes for this weapon at all. I know a lot of people hate it because it an energy weapon. At the moment, it's fine the way it is. Devotion is the weapon I think people really hate more. However, if I was to do something to the Havoc Rifle it would be the single fire mode which nobody in their right mind uses. Why use a Single Fire Havoc? There's no point in it. It takes too long to charge the shot when it should be a little faster at firing. I know it does 60 damage a shot but is it worth it? NOPE.
Sub Machine Gun
Alternator SMG - Disruptor Rounds should be something like 1.40 on this. No reason whatsoever that this weapon should delete a Level 3/4 shield so freaking fast. Even popping a Battery isn't rewarding because you have no time to heal your base health depending on situation. What's funny about the Disruptor Rounds is that it's not balanced on the Alternator but balanced on the R-45 which is 1.70 towards the shields. That is because the R-45 is low damage pistol and is fine with the Disruptor. People only complain about the Alternator which is still broken if you ask me at 1.55.
Prowler Burst PDW - Used to be my favorite SMG back in Season 1 because I am not a fan of the R-99. But I only liked this weapon with Auto. Personally, only change it should have is doing 15 damage a bullet from 14. I refuse to pick this weapon up because it 14 damage on burst which is very bad despite me almost winning the fights when I do pick it up after I burst them with like 15 bullets (not all land) and still lose.At 15 damage, things would change and I would actually pick this up more often. Even on Auto, it sometimes gets out gunned by a freaking R-99... Like what??? 15 damage base is the way to go.
R-99 - This weapon is the number 1 SMG in the game and most streamers love this weapon because of it's beaming potential. I don't like the weapon because I can't laser people unlike others. I honestly cannot think of any changes for this weapon. It is the strongest SMG is the game though and the most skilled one at that. It even has the lowest SMG damage in the game and it outclasses the Prowler which is why I recommended the Prowler get buffed to 15 damage. I have nothing to say about the R-99 so lets move on.
Light Machine Guns
Devotion LMG - The devotion is the energy weapon most people hate in this game. If someone shoots it and you have no cover...RIP. Honestly, I think it needs a slight nerf as I shot people first before they could fire their freaking devotion at me and still lost??? How? I did 181 and lost 200 HP in seconds. To nerf and balance this weapon out. I think it's time to tone down the overall damage output by reducing it by 1 damage. So base damage is now 16 from 17. Seems much more fairer at 16 damage don't you think? Leg damage should also be 12 from 13. As most people do tend to hipfire this in your face and bullets go everywhere without them aiming at you.
M600 Spitfire - Only change to this is a slightly faster reloading speed with Level 2 and 3 clips. Lets be honest, you lost most of your fights with the Spitfire because you got caught reloading your weapon? This weapon was nerfed from 20 damage to 18 before which is alright if you ask me. I just wish it reloaded faster. Also, I have a harder time finding the Spitfire. I don't know what happened, but the spawn rate for this weapon seems very low. I see more Devotions than Spitfires.
L-STAR EMG - First of all, I am shocked to learn that this is a Light Machine Gun. I thought it was an SMG but whatever. I don't like this weapon. It was over hyped and not even worth picking it up. I laugh at bots who have a Mastiff and L-Star trying to kill me with two Legendary weapons. I have never lost to anyone using those two same weapon loadouts against me. So what do we do? Well, this weapon can destroy doors...Anyone actually do that? Nope. Why shoot a door down with this thing? Pretty stupid if you ask me. I don't even know if it will damage the enemy behind the door or not. No one will use the weapon for that purpose. Waste of ammo. I think Bullets should regenerate ammo overtime as well. If it did that, it might be better. Give it an indicator when it about to overheat. Make it swap weapons much faster as well would also help. At the moment, I am still not picking this weapon up. I haven't died to this weapon in about 2 months. And I'm no pro.
Shotguns
EVA-8 Auto - Increase damage from 7 damage to 8 per pellet. So overall damage would be 63 to 72 if all bullets landed. How many times have you the EVO and the person was still alive or you got out gunned by something that was simply faster? Too much, EVO takes a lot of ammo which is a con that why it needs about 32 bullets in you backpack to make this weapon worth carrying around, but the damage is a little low.
Peacekeeper - I hate this weapon the most out of any weapon in the game. I always wanted it nerfed and the nerf it needs is a tone down on the Precision Choke shooting at longer ranges. The choke can be used to snipe people across the map which is nasty. Plenty of youtube and reddit video clips that show this. Start there is all I have to say.
Mastiff Shotgun - Without a doubt the best shotgun in the game. I only wished it had 5 ammo as default from the 4. Keep the ammo total to 20. This means you have more chances to shoot with this shotgun versus someone with a peacekeeper. The peacekeeper can defeat this weapon with ease. Believe me or not. The last change I would suggest is making the base damage from 18 pellets to 20. This would make the weapon one shot anyone with a level 1 armor if all pellets hit them 20x8= 160 from 18x8=144. This would also mean headshot damage would become 40x8=320 from 36x8=288
Snipers
G7 Scout - G7 is the weakest sniper in the game. I wish it gets another buff for Season 3 to compete against the Triple Take and Longbow. To buff the G7 Scout, I suggest making the base damage 34 from 30. This would help secure more knockdowns and eliminations from a distance as long as you land your shots. People get away far too much with the low 30 damage. Increase leg damage to 24 from 22 to help compensate from people running away or shooting people like Octane and Bangalore running away. What's even more wrong with this weapon is that at longer distances, slow bullet traveling speed makes it harder to hit enemies... Like...WTF?!?!? That should not be a con for this weapon at all. I strongly recommend that you increase the bullet travel speed and make it a little easier to hit enemies at longer ranges. This is exactly why this weapon loses to Triple Take and Longbow users. Give this weapon a 2.5 headshot multiplier by default or give it Skullpiercer as a new Hop-up. Either of those choices will help. You are not rewarded for landing a 60 damage headshot I can tell you that. This weapon can be very good if it gets the fixes it needs. Very skilled based weapon and hard to use and aim with. Once mastered it can be good but there's no point in mastering this weapon when longbow and even Triple Take are the better snipers.
Kraber .50-cal Sniper - This sniper is the hardest one to use and aim with in the entire game. I was shocked it got buffed in Season 2 but honestly. I agree with the buffs and changes. This weapon is fine the way it currently is and don't see it getting anything in Season 3. Could use a new skin though for those who care about new skins. I don't like any of them currently but that is just me lol.
Longbow DMR - This is the best weapon sniper based weapon in the entire game as long as you ignore the Kraber. The longbow is the most skilled weapon to learn in this game and since the buffs to snipers. It became mandatory to have a sniper on your team if you want to become an Apex Predator. Lets be real here, the last squads in highly skilled based matches will all be nearly longbow users and you need a longbow user of your own if you have any hopes of winning. does this weapon need a nerf? I don't think it does. It hard to land your shots but if you land those shots, its a very good and powerful weapon. Can even punish people for poking which is something the G7 or Triple Take cannot really do towards others who poke.
Triple Take - Triple Take is not my favorite weapon despite it being better than the G7. But what annoys me the most is when I hit people for 23/46/69 and sometimes I hit people across the map for 14/17/18 damage!!!! I know, that 14/17/18 damage is a leg shot on the person I hit with only one pellet hitting them. But come on now. That is so low and not even worth it. If someone hits you with a Triple Take I think it should always be 23 damage in the leg base or 20 if 15% reduction Legends or 24 if you shoot someone like Lifeline/Pathfinder/Wraith. What I'm saying is Leg damage with Triple Take should be ignore and treated like a freaking body shot. The last change I would suggest is decreasing Precision Choke charge-up time from 1.1 to something like I don't know 0.90. Lets be real here, 1.1 takes too long to shoot someone as it's charging up. They be moving and running away safely before it even charges. you were better off with a Longbow in this case my friend. This weapon is still better than the G7 but not better than the Longbow. So yeah, those are my thoughts on the Triple Take.
I'm not going over Pistols at all because I currently think they are fine the way they are.
Grenades and Consumables
Thermite Grenade - I like these much more now since they can burn the doors down. One of the best changes this game got and people really underestimate these. Only change is to increase inventory size from 2 to 3. Because usually I waste one on a door and then another inside the building or on the knockdown person. Having three would be awesome as these are much harder to throw and land correctly.
Ultimate Accelerant - Increase inventory size from 1 to 2. This will change gameplay greatly if we can hold two of these without being punished for having two in or inventories. Also makes Wattson/Gibby/Caustic much more fun to play. People refuse to carry these and as a Wattson main, checking deathboxes usually have zero ultimate Accelerants inside them. It saddens me really as I do be looking sometimes.
Arc Stars - I hardly use Arc Stars despite them being very powerful and maybe the best grenades in the game. I think the stunning from 2 arc stars stacking against one or multiple legends should be slightly reduce. I lose fights because people threw 3-6 arc stars at me and the explosion isn't what killed me. The stunning effects did because they all stack. Also, I think it's a bug that you can stick arc stars on your teammates. I saw clips where someone sticks Pathfinder or Octane and they run into the enemy team or person in the corner to kill them. How is this skill? It's a dirty tactic but I don't think that is fair. Also, I do think Arc Stars should do damage to the person behind a door. I threw arc stars at doors and it destroys the door, but doesn't damage the person behind it. They are also not stunned, so the doors could be buffed. Exactly why I like using a Thermite against an enemy hiding behind a door than a arc star or normal frag grenade.
Frag Grenades - These are actually hard to throw and they roll on the ground. I hate throwing them at doors as the explosion doesn't reach or destroy the door sometimes. They are stronger when you throw them in small spaces or people hiding behind a door and your managed to toss a frag inside the room while body blocking the door even more. Do I think they need any changes? Nope, not at the current moment and they should remain the same.
I would like to see new grenades added into the game as well as consumable items. But won't make wishlists or theories.
Legendary Items
Rework the Level 4 Shield and Knockdown Shield. They are both the worst Level 4 items in the game. Not going to discuss reasons why but all Apex Legend Players should already understand why those two items are just the worst without me saying anything or sharing my thoughts further.
