What does reporting for "sabotage" even do?

What the title says

My teammates dropping on 15 teams in ranked doing 0 damage and dying within the first 10 seconds of the match and then leaving as soon as their banners expire pretty much constitutes sabotage to me. No comms, no listening to direction, just dropping and dying for 100% free. 

I lose RP for absolutely no reason whatsoever, and this happens on rinse cycle 4 out of 5 games I play. This is solo queue experience.

Reporting people like this does absolutely nothing, and I never get notified that any action has been taken on such reports. Why does Sabotage exist as a reporting function?

Explain.

    Just had this happen 5 min ago we drop hot get guns they get in fight less than 100 damage I run away cause one is lifeline I can crafter banners cool dude says just die so I rez them and sit in a corner the rest of the match while 1 unplug his ethernet so they don't lose rp but I get abandoned match penalties

    As other's have suggested, you're on a slippery slope with your definition of the word "sabotage." In a game with so much latitude in play style, it's very easy to for a conservative edge dropper to call his hot drop teammate a saboteur. And of course the opposite is true as well. If you're willing to queue into ranked modes without a premade then you better prepare yourself for an onslaught of stupidity. Some of it may even be malicious, though I doubt it. It's mostly just dumb people doing dumb things and not caring one tick whether they are in a ranked mode or not. If it makes you feel any better, once you get out of the silver tier then this will probably be a lot less of an issue. Did I say "silver?" I meant "platinum."
