What is in a level? Serious question.
Just curious if anyone else has been paying attention. Prior to the addition of the new level, (which I am loving when I do play) I was on the stat trackers anywhere from level 1200-1500.
I am not complaining about the soft reset by any means. It is what it is. I am concerned about inflated levelling because let's face it this new event skews the crap out of any meaning to level. From the get go you get a match that lasts 8 minutes, and in this match you are placed third no matter what, bonus xp. And unless you are a complete turtle the whole game you are getting 1 kill. So for an 8 minute match everyone gets to place third and for arguments sake 1 kill, that equates to what? 3-4K xp for every game played.
I played a couple of straight Apex games and had my usual stream of players in lobby who had no clue on enemy movement or getting out of the storm. Old raggedy story I won't deviate on to that topic. Anyhoot two of these players who I can assume were a duo were rocking level 200 badges so I thought maybe they have experience and their low kills just means they don't play as those legends. Nope, they opted for landing right between drill site and trainyard emptied the 3 supply bins there and went to look for fights in trainyard right away. For giggles I went over to public chat and they were in their 20's and yes they were a pre-made duo. I landed drill site got gear and fought off the squad that landed there and proceeded to trainyard while these guys were cackling about how they couldn't down the squads there with the p2020 and mozambiques they had. I seriously was laughing. I finally broke my rule and chatted in game for the first time with randoms in months and asked if they had the hop ups for their guns. They both responded what is that?
Ok so now I have the banners of these level 200 players, and respawn them by fuel depot as the circle is moving this way. I drop a longbow for one since I have a hemlock as my primary. They both run off and go up the zip line to the other re-spawn beacon on the hill overlooking fuel depot in the storm to loot. That area is picked clean and I watch helplessly as they die yet again in the storm.
While this might be my isolated instance I see no and I mean no value in levels in game now. These two jokers kept on about how great they were and I wasn't being a decent teammate. First of all at level 200 you should know what hop ups go with what guns. Second of all you should know landing in an area with 3 bins is not going to outfit a squad. When re-spawned in with no gear I would love a sniper rifle, cause guess what? I am going to be circling enemies looking for sniper knocks vs rushing in with no gear and a 99 to wipe the floor like a pro player.
Sorry about the length, but in all honesty what was the point of releasing this levelling system only to give people a false sense of accomplishment? I have played the event and in a bad game I walk out with 8000 xp, in a good game 12-15k. So if I ground it out in the event I could be level 500 fairly quickly, I just don't really care for the event tbh.
To recap the levels will mean nothing because it is easy to level up in the event, which is the point of this game in it's current state, false sense of accomplishment and when the event is over we will see an influx of high level legends that will die in the storm or to stupid decisions. It will not help in what it was supposed to. Give us a chance at legend selection to see if we were getting experienced teammates or not.
So basically the level will say that with a pre-determined loadout you could play team death match and capture the flag, but not really show whether or not you can weather the storm in the BR form of this game. SAD.
