@PublicIDexists2What is the issue you're facing in game that's making you say this, mate?
I understand the theory behind what you're saying - I get it. I'm not seeing anything negative happening in game to make the changes you're talking about anywhere near urgent.
[edit] - Sort of selfish on behalf of my continent and NZ - but your system would kill ranked dead in Australia for all but the low leagues.
1. Absolutely. This game has a very high potential for future cash prize tournaments. There will always be a way to weed out hackers. Such as watching high ranked games closer and paying attention to if someone is healing without using any kind of medical aid. Things like that.
2. Purity of the game and the skills that each player possesses. I know this is bold to say but if I'm the only one here who recognizes the full potential of this game and the ability it has to mold the future of the gaming stratosphere then I'm a little more than shocked. I'm not a forums person. This is one of the few moments in my entire life that I've felt a forum with actual constituents from the main party, who are watching and reading these comments and discussions, would actually take action. It's too late to do anything this season. I understand. But there is still more than enough time to save season 3 and do things the right way. It will be tougher if they make these changes. But if they want this game to reach it's full potential, then it's not going to be an easy road for the players.
- 7 years ago@PublicIDexists2 I think if they implemented a rigid ranked mode the likes of which you're talking about - unless they brought in cross platform, ranked would be a thing of the past where I play.
I wouldn't mind this so much if they moved the current softer matchmaking to regular apex as I'm enjoying the added difficulty of better players being funneled into the same games.
I don't really care about getting badges, I just want the better games. - 7 years ago
That's what must make us have these differing views. You only care about getting a good play in where as I care about every aspect of the game. I'm a lunatic who pays attention to every little detail and obsesses over it when I know it can be done better. I know it's not healthy. But it's who I am and I can't help it lol
- 7 years ago@PublicIDexists2 Your priorities with regards to the sections of the game are where we're probably disagreeing. The 'getting good games' is of paramount importance to me. The current matchmaking system for ranked gets me them and your alternative would practically overnight stop me getting them.
Literally nothing is worth that. The badges/ranks/etc/etc/etc can't even be a factor if you can no longer get the games. - 7 years ago
I honestly don't understand why basing rankings off K/D and W/L ratio from the start of season 3 would ruin you getting good games. You would literally be grouped up with people of the same caliber without having the issue of playing with different ranks. And as I said before, if you're friends are good enough, then they would be the same rank as you. It almost seems as if you have tunnel vision on this issue because you're doing well in the ranks and if the system changes then you might not reach such heights. I'm not trying to attack you. I'm just trying to understand why you're so against a straight forward system. And if you think over 80 days isn't enough time to grind to the top, you are severely mistaken. That is more than enough time to grind.
- 7 years ago@PublicIDexists2 Change the metrics however you want, I'd do as well as I do now and be happy with it :S You're making massive assumptions about my motives here and me acting in bad faith.
I've explained exactly why I think it would stop me getting the games. It's the rigidity of boundaries between tiers and the number of players on the continent I live on. - 7 years ago@PublicIDexists2 80 days is enough time to grind to the top - if you're good enough to do it. Bad players rarely get enough kills to outweigh the ante in higher tiers, and part of it is because they're happy for 30 of them to drop in airbase every game, lol. You can't un-bad someone enough that they'll start appearing in the higher leagues.

I see your points as valid. But how many players are there on your continent? And I'm not sure exactly how it works but I play this game with people from different countries and continents all the time. How exactly does that work?
- 7 years ago@PublicIDexists2 Australian players can't play on anywhere but the Australian servers unless you're in WA in which case you might get away with Singapore. We're too far away from everywhere.
I'm 99% certain I'll be in the apex pred league - if it doesnt get fleshed out with people from the league below then getting ranked games will be next to impossible until we get to 30 minutes before the seasons ends when lots of people graduate to it.
It doesn't matter what your criteria for those brackets are : they would have to be soooooooooo relaxed to let enough people in that games would pop well for Australians. It wouldn't fit into your view of what ranked should be.
So the best situation anyone has suggested so far for my region is the one we ended up with. Where IF there aren't enough people available - it populates from the nearest available pool so we can keep getting games where the skill bar is raised. - 7 years ago
The biggest headache caused for me so far is that they didn't seed the brackets based on S1 results. Friends in Plat etc are having to wait for enough people to qualify before they can play.

That's why they could have different stipulations for ranking up based on the gaming population of each region. Then at the end of the season take the top 60 players from each region. Hold a best of 10 tournament. And go on from there. All the way to having a best of 10 tournament with the 60 best players in the world. That would make for an insanely awesome and competitive tournament. Anything can be adjusted to make things not only correct, but right.
- 7 years ago@PublicIDexists2 But we know they'll never do that, so the wheels fall off the entire conversation! :D

Yeah and that's what sucks. I've said it before but it's disappointing when something great comes along and the people who control it don't care about it.
