Why I'm ditching Apex
I figured I'd share this rather than not playing any more and magically expecting the game's issues to be addressed. I've had a number of small gripes with Apex and it made playing the game unpleasant some days, but recently a more egregious thing happened and I'm just done with all of this.
First is all the lobby issues. I'm sure everyone has experienced it, you queue up, get to the Legend selection screen and one person is missing from the squad (sometimes both in trios). I get that nothing's perfect and people can disconnect or crash, but don't make me play at such a disadvantage. Either give us an option to bail out instead of loading into the match, dropping, getting our * kicked and going back to the main screen. It's several minutes that I've come to abhor. I had a day about a month ago where this happened multiple times in a session and combined with someone disconnecting on drop, it was 3-4 matches in a row of 2 people in trios.
Server issues leading to lag and for me, rubber banding. I'll move a bit, it doesn't fully register and it pulls me back a bit every time I move. Can't run, have to open bins multiple times, picking up items doesn't work. Again makes the game unplayable and earlier in the season I'd get this at least once a day.
Next thing is ranked. I don't usually play ranked because I used to run duos a lot and ranked only gives you trios. I've heard it's so that the playerbase isn't fragmented but we have modes like arena and control so I don't buy that argument. This season has been a lot of me in rookie and for some reason it's always putting me against full silver 1 or silver 2 squads. I get better games in trios because somehow it can match me up against similar people.
Finally, the thing that made me stop playing and will probably sour Apex so much that I'll never return. I'm currently running Windows 8. Yeah yeah it's an old OS and I should upgrade, I just haven't found the right time. I understand that support for it isn't a priority, but patches making preventing me from opening the game at the end of a season is just rude. At the start of season 14 would be fine, but just let me grind the end of my battle pass out.
I like this game. The mechanics are cool, the guns feel nice (most of them, screw you R-99), and I've met some cool people whilst playing. It's a shame that the bad outweighs the good. Technical issues, bad matchmaking and the game not even opening now. I don't see why this game is worth my time now. I expect there are other people who share have had the same issues and not said anything.
