Why Legends instead of customizable characters?

I know it´s part of the game´s "personality", but to choose a Legend and see a bunch of the same Legend roaming around the map, like you are finghting against clones, kills the fun of the game. I kno...

@MSPonsoni 

Legend skins offer a way to customize and make your own mark in Kings Canyon. Do you think it would be difficult to recognize what abilities the other player has if you weren't able to distinguish which Legend they were playing as?

Is there specific customization you're hoping to see added in future updates that you'd like to share with us?

@MSPonsoni  To add on to @EA_Blueberrys point, it also allows for strategic callouts during the game, like when you see a Wraith or Bangalore, you clearly can tell what the character is by how they look and you can call them out to your team so they know what kind of battle they might be running into, but with character customization you can't do that.

    @Subtle_Tactics Classes or a "specific gear = ability" solution would solve this (other games did that). Otherwise it will still be a game about you fighting against a bunch of clones. And, being honest, several friends of mine refused to even try the game because of this. It just doesn't convince. Besides, a game really have to sacrifice 100% of it's own reality's consistency to be playable?

      @MSPonsoniSo your friends will not touch this game because you are fighting against a Bangalore as a Bangalore? That is one of the worst reasons not to play this game if I ever heard. I would assume cheating on PC or lag on console would be the deal breakers. You can still attack your enemies by surprise just don't get spotted and it is EZPZ.

        @Subtle_Tactics I see that as a good reason, actually. I was not willing to download and play this game either because of things like that. I just took a try to play with my cousin but it's hard to take the game seriously.

      @MSPonsoni this isn't other games. This is Apex Legends by Respawn. If you enjoyed the other games play those. They give us skins and let us pick voice lines and customize banners already, that's way more than other games.
