There's never a time when I'll use materials to craft a weapon instead of a shield bump, but if either the 301 or volt were on the ground then I'd happily pick up either one, or a flatline. All depending on which extended mag I found first.
They might be useless in whatever meta exists in the ranked stratosphere, but in middling pubs lobbies they do just fine. - HappyHourSumwur2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Zerogravitiy27 I've always felt that weapons in the crafter should have a slight buff that puts them between ground loot and care package. Maybe give them full blue attachments.
I think it all depends on your game play style.
If your like me and never pick up snipers, you prepare for mid to close range fights and imo the R301 is one of the best guns in the game at mid range, if I can't find a Hemlok or Nemesis I'm 100% crafting a 301 to go with an Smg or Shotgun.
i'll never understand why they overbuffed r99 and ultranerfed 301.
@WTF_Huitzo
I don't know about the R99, but I feel like a vast number of players were very bored of the R-301 being "the" meta gun for, like, four years. Kinda like Gibby in ladder/comp play. Variety of meta is good.I also think that the Volt, for example, is a lot stronger than it's currently sometimes credited as. I think there's a lot of players who don't really practice outside of the game, so they lose their touch with weapons that they are less likely to obtain off drop. I can't disagree that the 301 is not feeling very powerful ATM, though.
Is there anyone who can roughly describe the stat differences between the pre-CP Volt, CP Volt, and post-CP Volt? I'm interested to see how the current iteration compares with the pre-CP version. The Volt was generally pretty highly estimated among SMGs before it went into the care package. But I'm feeling a bit too lazy to do a bunch of googling in order to see, NGL!

Nothing's really worth crafting. Maybe two bats, but yeah... after they ruined zone timers some seasons back, there's just no time to craft.
@CCbathwater
I've found it's OK when you can land on a crafter with minimal competition around, if there's a weapon you really like in the crafting rotation. The two slots of ammo are nice, and sometimes the appropriate mag and/or sight is also in the crafter. A favorite weapon plus two stacks of ammo for 30 mats is a good deal. Heck, the Hammerpoint RE-45 was well worth it even just to get the hopup for the P2020 or Mozam.But neither of these in the current rotation is compelling enough to send me crafting just for them.

@CCbathwater Guns, agree. That's why I think weapons in the crafter should be buffed a little. Would it change your mind if it came with all blue or purple attachments?
Lots of reasons to craft more than batts though.
Purple helmet, purple mags or stocks, blue armor if you don't find any on drop, mobi late game, med kits if you are going to be stuck outside the ring, ammo if you get stuck late without anywhere to loot.
- CCbathwater2 years agoSeasoned Ace@HappyHourSumwur Don't know how y'all find the time to craft everything on the menu. Mobi? Okay, yeah, I'm not doing that. When I played the other day I only respawned my teammates one time, and that was basically because I was sitting next to the respawn beacon and the teams infront of me started fighting. Can't bother with all that stuff.
