Apex Legends anti cheat error. is reWASD the cause?

I recently downloaded Apex Legends again after not playing for a while. During a match, I got the error message: "The client failed an anti-cheat backend check."

I have reWASD installed on my PC, which I use to edit controller inputs. I have had issues with other games in the past because of it, but I thought those were resolved, so I installed it again.

I do not have reWASD open when launching Apex, so I thought it would not matter. I am starting to wonder if it is still causing problems because of its drivers. I do not want to uninstall reWASD because it is very useful for me.

Here is what I have already tried:

  • Disabled the vJoy driver
  • Whitelisted the game folder in antivirus

Has anyone run into this before? Is reWASD definitely the reason for this, or could it be something else? Is there a way to temporarily disable it fully without uninstalling just for Apex Legends?

  • Yep, at least from what i've read reWASD is a huge problem for EAC and it should be removed completely with all leftover files. All forums dedicated to this problem have messages as "Thank you,as soon i deleted reWASD this problem's gone"
