@r1ggedgameA lot of times the reason it doesn't give a teammate is because someone presses ready and then unchecked it as it tries to get them in a game. Or the game disconnects them before they can get in. Or they connect way late (why some people just appear out of thin air) but by then they are doing something else.
Then there's the thing I think is a secret but is too obvious- If you leave a game before dying you are almost guaranteed to be missing a teammate the next game. I've suspected for years this is on purpose as some sort of punishment. This is my theory anyway.
- XNocturnalGamer1 year agoNew Hotshot@hayhor @r1ggedgame I'm not understanding. You queued up a game, unchecked No fill & then what happened ?
- hayhor1 year agoHero@XNocturnalGamer I'm talking about clicking ready up and then unclicking. I've never gotten teammates in thousands of no fill games. The only way I see this happening is readying up, unreadying, clicking no fill and then clicking ready, all very quickly within a couple seconds. For some reason when you click ready you go into a queue immediately but when you click unready you don't leave the queue immediately. This causes you to get the wrong modes and I expect it causes the no fill and missing teammates issue. There's likely a timer of some sort.

Another 'bug' I'd like 'fixing' is the AFK Dropmaster. In the drop ship, you're approaching the edge of the map, finally realise the DM is AFK, desperately ping a spot, drop solo, hope the other TM has dropped with you then you get killed by a full squad as the DM sails happily to some random spot and ... just stays there.
Oh and the random Octane footsteps (three years now?).
And the 'Champions' music playing when you're not champions.
And being declared 'The Champion' before the match because the last game you played was a win in Mixtape, not BR.
And a properly working legend selection screen like it used to be.
- hayhor1 year agoHero@FuseDLuffy The afk drop Master is on the player. The game doesn't know the person is gone or how long they are gone. You certainly can't kick someone for not pressing a button in the ship as they might just be waiting.

@hayhorNah, it's an easy fix. DM has a time limit (countdown on screen i.e. 'Launch or Select Suggested Drop Location Else DM Will Pass to Teammate') to either drop or mark a drop location on the map. If they do neither, DM passes to next in line. That way also, if the player is AFK they will drop with the squad like a normal AFK player instead of zooming into the middle of nowhere.
An alternative would be for the first non DM to ping a drop location, and then a second non DM to approve it. The DM role would then switch to the player who pinged the location. This would also get rid of the annoyance of two players agreeing to a drop location and then the DM ignoring the rest of the team (it's democracy, people!) and dropping the team somewhere else.
- r1ggedgame1 year agoSeasoned Ace@hayhor then they will show up as disconnects , i mean those people dont even show up at the countdown so its on purpose
- hayhor1 year agoHero@r1ggedgame They don't tho.Tonight I was queued for a game and just as it started to go I canceled. It still made the noise like it was going to put me in a game.....but didn't. Then I immediately queued and I instantly appeared in the lobby selection. If I had not requeued my team would have been short a person without showing me and I would have been able to queued for another lobby.

I've had a lot of opportunity over the years to suspect the same thing and to put it to the test. I'd like to believe there are people at Respawn who are passive-aggressive enough to implement something like this, but my experience tells me it's random. So much for karmic retribution.- hayhor1 year agoHero@reconzero I've got friends that believe the same thing. As someone who doesn't quit a lot of games it happens way too often.

@reconzero@HayorI have a pretty educated guess on how this happens.
Its bcs of the bad team matching approach and to which servers they send those teams. Players have been using Geo-locks on their machines/routers since quite some time , bcs some of the servers are just unplayable for them (i can relate why players do this ...).
The Matchmaking doesnt check if the server is even reachable for a player before the team gets send to that server, so a geo-locked player will be set into your team and gets lost before the countdown starts on connect.
Its another flaw in the whole matchmaking/regionmanagment design and would need a complete overhaul of the whole system not only the Matchmaker itself to get rid of the root cause, thats why they dont wanna touch that topic in the 1st place. But by not implementing suitable workarounds like dropping unfilled teams out of the countdown so they can requeue before the legend selection screen kicks in, they just choose to run with it and that is on purpose.
A proper system would :
a) check the connection qualiity for all the possible servers beforehand and choose the best one
b) match teammates first then distribute them to a server and not wait until you have 60 players and then decide who gets who to play with.
or
c) skip all the crap, let the player decide on which server he wants to play on, built a lobby where he decides who to play with like in oldschool shooters .
When i see that lead devs at respawn get paid nice 6 figure salaries only to come up with a crappy system that has never been liked by the playerbase i would strongly advise to hire other people.
What they dont realize is , the people just put up to that crap for so long ... and then leave. The signs had been written on the wall since 2020/21 ... but they didnt address it with the needed attention, now players are gone and likely wont come back .
- Lord_Scorpion341 year agoLegend@hayhor In that instance I would rather the game kick me back to the lobby if it can't give me a full squad. That's what they should do. If you can't get a complete team, kick that player back to the lobby to ready up again.
- hayhor1 year agoHero@Lord_Scorpion34 But that would mean the lobby has to wait longer to full. Then more would leave that lobby and MM wouldn't be instant so the kids would stop.
