- @ashyl13 Maybe his dad do some oil or weed buisness?
you have to pay if you want heirlooms, it's not about playing
- @ashyl13 It’s just luck.
Your friend got really lucky, you did not. You can't buy heirlooms shard, and he doesn't even have the battle pass
- DarthValtrex5 years agoHero (Retired)@ashyl13 This is how an RNG works, they are RANDOM. The person just got extremely lucky. The odds for getting an heirloom are always .2% it foes not matter if you’ve opened 10 packs or 400, every single time you open a pack the odds are .2%.
I have seen similar stuff happen in casinos. I have seen people who have never gambled before win a top jackpot Back to back, odds of winning that happening were in the billions to 1.
I have also seen people who have gambled for decades and lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, never win a big jackpot. They use the exact same RNG technology.
The person you played extremely rare, maybe 1 out of every couple hundred thousand players will get 2 heirlooms that quickly unless they purchase them. - @ashyl13 he used all of his life for the next 10 years in life 🙂
@ashyl13 Wow. Tell your friend to cherish it and be grateful. I have yet to get my first Heirloom and have been playing since the launch of Season 2... :C
Getting Heirlooms is not just an accomplishment: it's a quest for 90% of the player base.
@NaRnIaaa Paying Apex Coins for crates is not COMPULSORY, however it is very unlikely to get shards without purchasing them. To be precise: it's a <1% chance every time you open a crate but it's guaranteed on your 500th crate: and If you are on Level 500 and maxed out every Battle Pass and got all the Collection Event Packs etc. you'll earn just under 300 crates from this alone.
So yes to get an Heirloom guaranteed you must spend at least 20,000 Apex Coins to get those 500 crates. But you havea low chance to get it for free. Just thought I'd correct you there @NaRnIaaa
- @ashyl13 Did he buy them during events?
Also, months is nothing. I've been playing for a year and a half and dont have one. The Heirlooms in this game are a sore point for me. It's kind of a joke really...and a bad one at that. $168 per event to get an heirloom, or get drastically lucky in an Apex pack, or open 500 apex packs. I've been playing since launch day, and do not have an heirloom yet. While I'm taking ab break during Season 5, I was playing up through most of Season 4.
I'm sure OP is aware that his friend "got lucky". The point is there has to have been a better way...maybe not for EA's income numbers, but certainly for the players. Heirlooms are not a new concept in gaming. Many MMO's have this sort of thing, and they are tied to ridiculous, no-life level grinds. So when you see someone with a set, you know that's someone who has put serious work in, not "got lucky" or spent a bunch of money.
For example, Planetside 2 has Heirloom level cosmetic pieces for your soldiers and vehicles. Each one is tied to a 4 or 5 tiered series of major in-game grinds...in a way like Apex's miulti-tiered badges but a much longer grind, more badges, and more tiers. To put it in perspective, I played Planetside 2 for 4 years on PS4 and never got a single heirloom level piece. I'm close on several things, but it's too much of a concetrated grind for me to keep going on it. Still it can be done in-game, and that's the point.
