Add option to see your PING and which server you are connected to

I hate lag.

Lately playing Apex Legends on PC sometimes feels like my character is running underwater and slow to pick stuff up and strafe - a massive disadvantage.

Yet other times the game seems responsive.

I suspect it is due to server switching.

I would like to know which server I am on and my current ping. I already chose my prefered data centre at the start of the game, but suspect I get switched.

  • Ping I have no solution for but for which server you can do this. First start the game. Then wait (for pc I've heard it takes 1 min and for consoles 2 mins) 1 minute. Access the 'accessibility' menu, go back and you should see 'data centre' or something and there you can select which server you connect to.

    Hope this helps
  • Since Apex does not have ability to see ping at the moment, there is a workaround way to check ping ( on PC)

    - You can use Resource Monitor (windows tool) to check for IP of the server, or use a free edition Netlimiter ( recommended, abit easier to see ping)
    - Once you got IP, run command prompt, and ping to that ip ( ping 10.0.0.1 for example)
    - Take note that, you need to join a game before check for actual IP. Lobby IP is different obviously.

They should add some 'Overlay' options in the Origin Client, it would make gaming online nicer.

I forget if Steam only has a Ping Overlay, or others...

P.S. I haven't been paying attention lately to the Apex settings, but there's suppose to be a 'Datacenter' setting that allows you to see average ping and also packet loss...

  • Just use VPN. I don't think you could play any game without VPN these days.
