Aim Assist needs tuning

Aim Assist currently is just way too strong.

I play with some friends that use controllers and I will also team up with randoms in ranked using them as well. The one thing I keep noticing about controller players is that they tend to play VERY aggressively, and I think I understand why now. They rely on "one clipping" enemies that they catch off guard. While spectating them I'm always amazed at just how precise they stick to an enemy. I have moments where I feel like my aim is just as good, but it takes way more effort.

Network lag, frame drops, and quick little strafes are unaffected by Aim Assist. As a MnK player, I have to "find" the hit boxes at times. I'll have to lead more than what I should have to normally because the server is off for whatever reason. The person could be playing with 200 ping or having packet loss.

The other point I see get used far too often is that controller players have to aim with little joysticks, which is a much smaller area to aim with than the average mouse user. There's a couple problems with this argument. It's a choice to use it is probably the biggest one. Why do you get something other players aren't offered because you picked a less accurate input device? Controllers tend to benefit people that have smaller hands with accurate thumb muscles. I can buy a different shaped mice to fit my hand better. I can use a larger mouse pad. Aim Assist is just insulting to people that not only spend a lot of time practicing to improve accuracy, but invest in good tools.

I'm just tired of seeing this trend of Aim Assist being increased so that controller players can keep up with Mouse players. They do not need to have the same accuracy stats. If Aim Assist is tuned to a point where the accuracy is equal to between the two inputs, then its been overturned then.

To sum it up:

Aim Assist latches on to hit boxes, not where player characters actually are. Lag and frame drops impact aim less because of this.

Controllers are a one size fits all, and only engage a few muscles in your thumb. You can't improve nearly as much as using a mouse where you can build muscle memory. Either your hands are the right size and have good mechanics for a controller or they don't. Not much you can personally can do to change that.

The only way console players end up in a PC lobby is because they paired up with a friend on PC. I don't care about the Aim Assist on console, but it should be lower on PC and when a console player joins a PC lobby it should change with it.
