imagine if in ALGS the most used character last week was banned in the next week, team comps would be so interesting and it wouldnt just be the same team comps over and over, that said i recently returned to apex legends and enjoying it immensely i just wish gibby wasnt a must pick in every single ALGS match ever
@Swarth2300 Where did you see the same comps over and over? There were a lot of different picks during the playoffs, even Mad Maggie was chosen lol.
But aside from this, what exactly makes Gibby boring in the ALGS?
@Cro_Pittt Honestly haven't seen current Algs, but the part of the reason I never play Gibby is cause I can't stand the turtle maneuver - walking in and out of his shield to shoot and not get shot at. Every random Gibby I've seen does this. From an outside perspective, it sounds like Gibby is in the majority of team comps.
I’m not sure I’ve found Algs entertaining for long, though I’m glad it’s running and healthy. Weirdly I found it best in season 4 when I first stumbled across it. Since then I forgot about it.
But Gibby is a good character, I’m not sure why people are bored by him. Respawn has made so many characters weak I’m not surprised not as many are being used by pros.
@Swarth2300I agree. With my limited knowledge of the ALGS, I believe it was the NA teams who mostly use the same set of meta legends while the other regions having more diverse compositions (but still a lot of Gibbys). Respawn must strike a balance between nerfing Gibby for the ALGS not to pick him that much and not nerfing to the ground for regular players not use him anymore. His pick rate isn’t that good really for a nerf.
Or they could introduce a new legend to replace Gibby like what Valk did replacing a lot of Wraiths and BHs. Haven’t played enough of this season to say that NewCastle would do that though.
@Cheese9Man NC is def alternative "can't understand why people thought he could just replace Gibby completely without Gibbs getting nerfed". First weakness is that he can't protect from over head unless Wattson is on the team. Won a fight and eventually the game because of this combination, match up wise the other team is forced is either waste resource to destroy a individual wall or push closer. It sounds like a cozy situation but another match showed that Rampart could easily stop this at the cost of planting her ult and her wall "You need to plant cause it will still cost alot of ammo for each wall, but planting gives a infinite supply and damage boost helps to quickly destroy em." Fuse can also achieve similar results with his tactical.
Fun facts - messing around alone in firing range shown me some bugs, not sure if it's limited to range tho. Ults that damage "Gib, Bang, Fuse, Crypto - cause it damages / destroys other set ups" has no effect on the wall itself, but tacticals do "Mag, Valk, Fuse". Mag's ult can potentially phase through a wall "needs to bounce once tho". Would like to see if somebody else can replicate these with 2 people, or if it was just my stupidity cause technically they were my castle walls the whole time.
P.s I know Ramp and Fuse aren't Algs picks but if a team bothered to use Maggie, somebody would probably pick them as well.
