Andrew Wilson on the latest investor call.

https://variety.com/2024/gaming/news/apex-legends-changes-ea-season-22-battle-pass-1236194385/

Well, they know they messed up the battle pass, so there's that. The rest of it sounds to me like a lot of pie-in-the-sky nonsense that will calm frustrated investors without actually saying how or committing to any particular path to growth. I call it more of the same old same old. But as always, you be the judge.

  • I think what they're missing is just how unfriendly the game is toward casual players.

Between the SBMM and cheaters, the experience for a legit casual player isn't good.  I left for a while, came back in season 22 and it's noticeably worse.  I gave it a go, but gave up the amount of cheating is just too high.  If it's not cheaters, it's being a plat player and actually being put up against preds too often.

Sadly it's becoming a downward spiral as the player base declines, mostly the hardcore sweats are left.  Them and the aimbot users on their 50th account.  I bother to post as I think Apex is a very good game, but if they don't get serious about dealing with cheaters the ship will continue to sink.  I would like to see Apex succeed against cheaters and make the game enjoyable again.

@Gator762FMJI think Apex is brutally unfriendly to everyone except cheaters and the absolute best players. Casuals, average to below average players, solo queuers, and honest people are treated like cannon fodder. How can you expect someone to play regularly, let alone spend money on, a game where you get your brains beat in in humiliating fashion 95%+ of the time? The bean counters at EA simply don't care about things like that whereas we all know it's the key to turning the game around. They just don't get it.

“In the quarter, Season 22 of ‘Apex Legends’ launched with significantly more new features for casual and seasoned players alike, including more modes, a new map and new anti-cheat software,”

New anti-cheat? The complaints of cheaters taking over has seemed to go up since this the new anti-cheat - if any at all was added other than EAC. Sure didn't and doesn't seem like they added new anti-cheat.

Expectations fell short - I sure hope they weren't surprised by this. When you harbor some of the worst MM in the gaming industry, worst sound engine, cheaters taking over the game, as well as some of the worst comms with your own player base ( or lack there of), and have completely ignored the casual player base, how can anyone be surprised of expectations falling short. Did they not expect this?

"As Andrew mentioned, we are committed to delivering new experiences for our players with a continued focus on enhancing player engagement and retention.” - Im not sure I like this statement. As many are aware of specific tactics that are involved when some focus hard on engagement and retention. And they claim they don't use EOMM.

@ComicBookGuy2727 Andrew Wilson is a politician. He made a bunch of feel good statements without any details on exactly what they're gonna do about it. Acting surprised that Apex didn't meet financial expectations is just complete ignorance. I really don't know who in their right mind would pay for Apex coins with the state the game is in right now.
