@Swarth2300Apex as a system outside of matchmaking has drastically improved. Many of the pain points in the bad map design are smoothed over too. However, the matchmaking algorithm and prejudiced loot system prevents any and all enjoyment in this game. Games where I get a full kit I go far, only to be killed by preds or cheaters. When I have competent teammates and not stupid bot behaving noobs (or just bots, but I'll never be able to prove it) I either match their kills and damage or far outshine them. Even a player who can only crack a shield on my team allows me to clean out enemy teams, but most of the time I have teammates who engage when they shouldn't, don't respond to pings, and can't aim or refuse to. I'm convinced this is on purpose.
Games where I land with 298341297482975429785928549275927845 P2020s 4 games in a row aren't fun. I'm convinced that the entire mission of Apex Legends is to feed average players to the highly skilled for youtube and twitch hype and literally nothing more. The entire business model revolves around exploiting players for whales.
Overwatch admitted that they would match one player with 5 underskilled players to even out the skill level in order to match with an enemy team of much higher skill than the 5. This is partly why the game died so fast. Call of Duty World War 2 also has a system where people who bought DLC are given easier lobbies. Now that everything is a 'games as a service' model, there's no telling what level of player exploitation is going on or how unfair the matchmaking really is, and because the game doesn't really display skill level numbers, there won't be a way to know unless its leaked.
I'm not giving EA any money, that's for sure. I hope Respawn rots. Too many stupid people buying their products though.

Stop landing with half the lobby if you want good gear before fighting? There are enough POI's (with loot in them) for every team. If you contest or get contested on landing you're in the hands of the rng Gods. The game becomes more and more random the more teams landing on each other.
- 4 years ago@CCbathwater Sound advice but unfortunately you can't predict where everybody will land. All it takes is one team landing with me to knock out my teammates and then find me.
- Eshshshss4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Redmattgame indeed I agree to what @CCbathwater said, also you replied to your own question in your post = map has various loot level places (can be googled to give you some sense of what is better or worse place to drop on each map).
On top of that there are hotspots which at least I personally see always being targeted by the best players or at least best pushers/shooters in the lobby, they have 0 doubt in their mind most of the time regarding where they will drop - straigh to hotdrop.
So that instant decision making to be first to land, good/better mechanics gives players advantage of better loot straight out of the gate.
What you can do to counter that?
1. drop better, faster
2. choose other more safe location yet with say 2nd best loot on the map
3. develop tactics vs players with better loot - focus fire, 3rd party, ult combos or just purely avoiding them
E.g. people do fear others with higher tier armors but usually the difference is just 2 tier = 25 damage = 1-2 bullets. If you fire first thanks to positional advantage and have somewhat competitive weapon - don't go into a fight with scopeless P2020 vs tricked out 301 - actually that advantage is still insignificant in my opinion same as tricked out guns in wrong hands = cases where you see better players still winning P2020 vs 301 fights or alike.- 4 years ago@Eshshshss Whenever I get the chance to be Jumpmaster believe me established hotspots like Fragment is the last place I'll be landing where I'll always tend to choose fringe areas where there is a chance to try & get half decent loot. But as you know there are pred teams who will delay landing & looking at smoke trails of various teams & effectively land on top of them & pick them off. There's also the issue of what happens when your not Jumpmaster & teammates choose to land in hotspots or areas that you van clearly see are heavily populated where you try to warn teammates by pinging (I don't use headphones when playing with random teammates) but they choose to land there regardless. You & others may choose to land somewhere else & play a solo game but I'll reluctantly land with teammates with the consequences. But there is no skirting away from the fact that the game suffers from an unbalanced weapon & loot system (like when opening a chest & discovering 3 white backpacks or 3 Thermite Grenades etc) that will often have players struggling in situations like I've often encountered like opening half a dozen chests & trawl entire buildings & not find a single weapon but plenty of shotgun barrels or sniper stocks.
You can wax lyrical about firing first when in a positional advantage but when your competing against teams with Bloodhound's & Seers who'll track you in a heartbeat & the constant 3rd partying any advantage can go out the window. And with Octane's leap pad landing exploits, tap strafing,Tap jumping, audio issues,Stryker packs (& other exploits) that give players aiming & zero recoil exploits etc that will stack the odds against you.
