- @Lord_Scorpion34 It's the servers, man. They sometimes change location by going through the phase runner :P
Jokes aside, that's a connection issue. May be some routing changes occurring right when you see the spikes. - @DoYaSeeMe Idk. Jus know it's been happening past few days in at least half of my games & it's annoying. But when aren't servers being annoying lol.
@Lord_Scorpion34Well, ping is about network mostly. Blaming the servers for ping variation is like blaming someone you talk to over the phone for the noisy interferences and interruptions you sometimes get during that conversation.
The servers have been beyond terrible in S8. However, good server usually stays good throughout the game and bad server usually fluctuates between unplayable and passable throughout the game. If you're having lag spikes in every single game, then maybe that's a problem on your end.
- @DoYaSeeMe Not if you're on the phone to your provider... ;D
- @apostolateofDOOM Neither Respawn nor EA do provide the internet network for us. The ISPs are almost always worthy of roasting. I've called mine so many times to just hear "everything's fine on our end, please try resetting your router" only to see their service team show up at the nearest pole a few minutes later. Also, most of the times technicians come to my place to check the setup, they always complain about certain modems and routers because of their high failure rate. I remember replacing like 3-4 modems over the course of a few months a few years back. I've seen many cables snapped by the weight of icicles or by friction with tree branches. I've posted some of the messy cable work that can be seen around my area.
Not saying that the servers are perfect, they clearly have their problems, but I'd say that less than 25% of the issues attributed to them are actually on their end. @DoYaSeeMeThat's a familiar story most have had that with their ISPs.
I understand that but ISPs have plenty of headroom for the extra traffic caused by Covid and they've said they have technical problems with something that interconnects networks as opposed to more users causing issues.Btw you don't need to explain the motorway traffic analogy to me.. xD
I don't think it's just servers (which are pretty bad anyway) but the way it's connecting to and also handling the matches as even lobby is bugging out before you even get into a game. It just generally looks and feels bloated and there are to many problems that most have even with top end hardware and good internet for it to be a troubleshooting on our end issue and i'm sure it's no simple fix but it's in a really bad state currently.Other games can fix or at least address these problems and even communicate that they're aware of and trying to improve it but all we get is a deafening silence.
- @apostolateofDOOM It's cause if they acknowledge the problem exist that means they have to put in effort to try and fix it and that's just asking too much from them. lol
@Daze623With EA being all love and no money it's unreasonable to expect them to invest in upgrading servers and troubleshoot under the hood.
- @apostolateofDOOM They are aware and looking for fixes, that's for sure. I can see that even from their incomplete Trello board. Stating this officially doesn't actually help players much, to be honest, and some of us do actually get annoyed by generic answers. Sure, some detailed answers would make us feel better, but those can also reveal sensitive information. For example, if they'd explain the circumstances of the invisible legend bug, they could expose some valuable clues for hackers who can't wait to exploit it to the max.
