1000th post about solo queueing because holy is this a terrible experience. Most games consist of incessant hotdropping (where unsurprisingly we all die because landing in a hot drop barely prepared is a dumb idea) or my teammates bail once they get downed/killed Occasionally I get matched with some decent people, actually have fun & I remember why I keep playing this game in the first place but recently the game’s just been so damn miserable. I actually like this game but the players just ruin the whole thing completely. [CM - Edited to remove link]

MMFPS players are mostly toxic and ridiculous no matter what game you are playing. That said, the matchmaking, ineffective anti-cheat, & complete disregard for smurfing in Apex all contribute to your experience. I know because my experience is your experience.

In every game players will blame teammates for failures they likely contributed to themselves.However Apex is horribly flawed in two simple ways. It randomizes teams of players that have very different playstyles and goals. That wouldn't be that much of a problem if everyone agreed on a main goal but that leads into the second problem.The primary goal is survival but the most fun aspect is fighting. Fighting in no way aids survival and simply surviving isn't fun. Who wants to play a game that isn't fun? Who wants to play using a losing tactic? This contradiction will lead players to drop with very different goals while looking down on eachother for playing in a way that they think is wrong.Apex COULD introduce an ingame function that makes fighting beneficial towards winning or forces/presses combat. That gives players a consistent short term goal that aids both types of players "I want to kill", "I want to win" in achieving their main goals.Apex doesn't do that so it's fun and interesting but also kinda meh.

Like you, I prefer the long game to a hot drop. If I want a KILL KILL KILL session I play TDM or Gun Run.My advice is, like others, played ranked. Okay, so Rookie and Bronze are very PUBS-like but in Silver, it all gets a bit more tactical and you should get TMs who actually run from fights they can't win instead of going against a 3-stacked with purple armour with white armour and a P2020.Also, git gud with a support legend (mine is LL) and go with them if you're picking third (or even second) and your squad doesn't have a support legend. Crafting banners is a get out of jail card. Three times this season I've had wins where I was left last man standing after an early fight and then respawned my TMs via crafted banners.

As a solo player I can tell you that I'm often in the queue with a match goal that isn't really going to mesh with other players' match goals. Often times they want a hot drop and a 45 second match, which is something I never want. But even when I have competent teammates, I often don't know they're competent until long after I've dropped solo and gone about my own personal mini-game.For me the problem is that I have only two ways to judge and form expectations of my teammates. First is by what they put on their banners. And that mostly tells you nothing of value. A guy can have a diamond badge and still be an aggressive hot dropper who isn't interested in the comings and goings of his squad. Especially in pubs. Second is by the locations they ping for an LZ. This tells me a lot and it's almost always bad. Hot drop. 45 seconds tops. Downed and spam pinging for a res without, apparently, the ability to look at a mini map and see that I'm 1500 meters away.I guess this all a roundabout way of saying that the key to success, imo, is the mic. Not saying I use mine often. I don't. But those matches where I do have a 95% chance of being something more than a solo run to second place.

@c5bwq92o0x8l Unfortunately solo-queuers(?) are always in for a bad time. Best advice is find a squad to play regularly with. Not the best advice but we play with the cards we're dealt.

Apex is ruined by incompetent matchmaking wich works for shortest possible queue times and by cheaters.
MM gets better when you reach higher rank which is unfortunatelly impossible in this season.
I was climbing in Diamond, now Im stuck in Silver cuz of bot teammates in 5 of 6 games...
My teammates are mostly Rokie or Bronze...
Worst problem is that there is no game to jump to...
PUBG has D-sync server problem whenre you die behind cover all the time...
WZ2 is trash.
Its just Apex or nothing if you wanna play BR.

We could certainly use more pings that create a better support/player situation, because this is really lacking the way people play together, especially when you play as a Random player. Randoms is really chaos, and we need more Pings to improve this.

I mean, this is true, except as mentioned, the blame is in the wrong place?
Respawn marketed the game in a certain way. You SEE movie clips of characters doing backflips and acing people in one shot, and then like killing 3 more people. So, yeah, that's the game people thought they downloaded.
But what you really get is a character having to hit an enemy with a million bullets because they are a pure sponge. And that only happens at the end of the game because for 45 minutes prior, they run around, hiding, and picking up loot.
False advertising, really. But then again, Respawn couldn't actually advertise the way their game actually plays because nobody would buy it. Better for them to lie and then have you figure it our later, right? :P
