Apex Legends: An audiophile's nightmare

Question

I've gone through over 15 gaming headsets in the past three years and Apex Legends is the only game that has to have its own pair. Don't know why it's so different, but I use my Steelseries Arctis 9x for every game on my Xbox including all the other BRs.

Apex Legends......in order to hear any kind of footsteps I have to use my Audeze Penrose X. Anyone else has to a special headset just for this game?

@DankToliet No, I just have the Sonar EQ tuned for footsteps.

There is a workaround to help improve footstep sounds on pc, outlined in the first post in the below thread: (also on xbox 1S with DTS settings and ps5 with headphones and there are other suggestions in the thread)

@DankToliet Nah I just use a pair of AKG k240. Main issue is they don't fit my head great. Have a weak bass response. But beautiful soundstage.

Footsteps are fine to pick up.

Before that I used two other sennheiser budget budget range.

I've not experience of gaming headsets (cringes me out) so got no idea their quality from an audiophile perspective... I also produce/mix music so I care about these sort of things.
