I loved every word of that. Especially:
"Apex puts you in a constant state of anxiety and pressure "sweat" for extended period and mentally that's not healthy. You're angry and aggressive to the point even I found myself being toxic and even sabotage toxic team mates. That's not the way to play the game. I became a real bad person."
I remember years ago in Halo 4 forge I created a map and gametype where players had infinite health so they couldn't be "killed," and everyone just hammered everyone else for time in the hill. In the end the winner was the one with the most time. It was fun, stupid, and nobody ever left a match feeling bad about anything.
I'm sure people will launch right in about snowflaky gametypes for kids who are afraid to die or can't handle when somebody is better than they are... which misses the point entirely.
In the end though, I won't leave this game because the learning curve on all games is just too steep and I'm tired of having to reinvent the wheel every time something new comes along. I'll just ride this one into the sunset. With squadmates muted and solo jump selected. But I sure do envy your willingness to move on to the next thing.
Some games won't have steep learning curve. Sometimes it is good for something fresh in game mechanics. Never know until you try. I've been playing Warhammer Darktide and it's a blast and real fun on match making. The only games I listed that are complex in mechanics and gear is Division 2, Mechwarrior 5 and Destiny 2. The others are casual in mechanics.
I can imagine making Apex the only game can get stressful.
Steam has 2hr trial for refund. Give some other games a go, watch the clock and see if you like them. Better yet sign up to one month Xbox/PC gamepass to play Darktide and other online match making games. If you like it then buy on steam.
Just try it and you never know. You'll feel alot better in the evenings. Don't let yourself be tied into Apex as primary game.
But OK if not, hope you change your mind in future. If I can convince at least one person 🙂
Day 1 player and never spent a penny on this predatory cosmetic spam game. So thanks EA for free game 🙂
Thanks for your post. Yup some games I use random match making but more effective some games I used Discord. Talking to people prior and build trust before joining a game to filter out people.
Division 2 game I used to play from discord with some some people who served in military. They take the game very seriously and insist on following orders with precision to execute perfectly in 8 player raids.
Yes, Apex can be fun when losing with friends. But after a while my friends quit the game too.
I wouldn't say randoms are dumb :D But more unwilling to play as team or they watch too much YouTubers thinking they can solo another squad. The demographics of this game is very much towards younger people who won't take it as competitive when BR is aligned towards that. I learned to be patient and realise alot were kids, hence I moved towards online games with deep mechanics which tend to have more mature crowd.
Apex team deathmatch PvP was actually fun, only because you can bounce back into the game!!
