banned account for toxicity

My EA account has been permamently banned for toxicity in Apex Legends in-game chat.

I am just making this post only to say that if you are being suspended for the 1st or 2nd time just be aware of being banned permamently like it happened to me. At the same time I would like to say there is probably no way to get unbanned. There will be comments like you can contact ToS (Terms of Service) Team to make a request for unban, but in my case it did not work. It is only because toxicity and hate speech in game is big deal for them. For me i thought it would be like always that I will get ban for one week and than play again. It happened to me last year in October first time, after that in February this year and third and last time now (March). So like I started writing tons of e-mails to ToS team and creating new cases on my own. I tried to call to Help Center and they help me by making another cases for me. I also used live chat provided by EA, which is actually the same as Help Center but typing instead of talking. I got a lot of help from this people and a lot of cheering words from them, that they will do everything they can to help me get unbanned but for nothing. I do not think that they help were useless, but It all means that there is no way to actually get unbanned for toxicity. You can try and I am actually wondering if there were people who manage to somehow convince ToS team to unban them. It is very simple if you break the rules, there is probably no way to get your account back.

I played Apex for 400 hours and I started somewhere between 1st and 2nd year of the game. I actually I do not know if it is much or not, but all I had on this account was a lot for me. I had like 250 level and 1 heirloom, 3 4k badges and a lot of 3k badges. I am just telling to show how much I feel I lost. I do not really want to make another account it would be pointless, I think.
I do not really know why I am writing this maybe to help someone not getting ban or to answear questions of people who are looking for way to get unbanned for hate speech like me. I might be that I am trying to accept my case somehow by telling story of my account. I enjoyed playing Apex, but I am taking a break for sure. I might try to get unbanned maybe few months later if I get any changes on my account I will post it under this one.

In conclusion I do regret what I did and I think It is bad that I was being toxic over and over on in-game chat. Even though It only hit me after I lost my account. I do regret and I am sorry for what happend. I know It will not change anything I just wanted to say this "public" if I can say this that way. I aslo know ANSWEARS HQ is not place where I can find help.

Thank you for the time spending on reading this and I hope it will be helpful for someone or maybe even save someone from the ban. I will ad photo of my cases from my e-mail.

  • Hi @xnehalf,

Thanks for taking the time to share this experience with others.

You're 100% correct. Contacting the Terms of Service (ToS) team is only advisable if you believe the ban was added by mistake/no rules were broken. There is no purpose reaching out to the ToS team aside from that as they will not overturn bans if the rules were broken and creating appeals for legitimate bans adds more to the queue and causes the wait times to spike.

Often toxic/hurtful comments are shared in the heat of the moment but they cross a line and as a result suspensions and even bans soon follow. The rules are there for a reason. It's as the Positive Play Charter says, "being part of a gaming community should be positive, fun, fair, and safe for all...Harmful behavior toward others is never acceptable. We want everyone to have a good time, so we will not tolerate bad actors and will suspend or ban players who negatively disrupt or engage in harmful behavior.".

It can be a hard lesson to learn sometimes but it's great to see the self-reflection elements in your post already. Hopefully, whatever games you play in the future, you'll be able to have more positive and enjoyable interactions with other gamers and fun as a result. Remember, you can always report others being abusive/breaking the rules and get on with your own game, we'll look into the rule-breaking. 🙂

    Take care,

  • I just wanted to add some things straight up. I have done "a little" reasearch and I read a lot of posts of other players. Like in my case they were ban for toxicity. After some conclusions I can agree with some things. EA bans people unfair for the reason, that this is permanent ban for toxicity, because in my opinion it should be long term ban, for each time a person break the rules, but not forever. Actually I have never seen such a situation in other games. Like for example in Overwatch, where I used to get ban for toxicity aswell, but there it works kinda diffrent. It was exactly like this that with each ban, the length of the suspension increased. Even though the suspension was not colliding with option to play a game, so I could play the game but I was not able to talk with people or use in-game chat and that is much more fair tactic than the one used by EA. I also spend money on Overwatch but they did not took the game from me.

It is hard to tell after what happened to me. I did spend money on Apex, I think not that much maybe around 40-50$ throughout the whole game time, but I can not get it back for sure and I can not get my account for sure. I also bought EA Play (20$ if i remember correctly) for whole year at January and I already lost it at March. It is really unfair if I think about after reading comments of other players. There is also no possible way to contact ToS team directly as a customer. It is all wrong made, I do feel like I was robbed from my money. I did unlock my battle pass and I will be not able to finish it and have coins for another one on time, even though the time for my unban is not coming. In addiction I do not have access to EA Play subscription that I paid for. Come on, I only played game "It takes two" and I can not even try other games because my whole account was banned for my toxic behaviour in Apex. The last thing I want to say is that I do not have access to settings of my account, because I simply can not log in. The problem is that I would like to unlink my twitch account with twitch prime and give it to somebody else, so maybe they could add some of prime gifts to theirs account when I can not do it.

It is actually unfair. I do think cheaters should get banned for playing game, but toxic people should be able to play the game and be banned for talking and chating with other players.
I did not get banned for breaking the game by giving myself unfair advantage with cheats. I was toxic, I behave wrong and I regret that, but let me play the game that makes me happy instead of losing customer because of your crap policy.

I am actually repeating this post, because it is so funny how my first post get so quick response, but than I did not get resposne to the other one and somehow the answear I got was classified as a solution, of course not by me. So if this post get any answears I want you to know that I did not do that.

At the end I want to say that I do regret what I did and I think It is bad that I was being toxic over and over on in-game chat. Even though It only hit me after I lost my account. @xnehalf

Great E-mail. I really like that you were very articulate in your choice of words and provided a good case in argumentation.

With that said we all need to treat each other fairly and with some degree of respect while gaming, whether it is with others playing a board game etc IRL or any form of online gamming.

The consequences of non mutual respect in both scenarios have repercussions for the individual or groups involved on the giving and receiving end of disrespectful treatment and we all have to live with those consequences.

With that in mind have a great weekend and happy Friday.

  • I think it's stupid to ban people for speaking freely.. Hate speech is subjective.. meaning it's only your opinion that makes speech "Hate Speech".. I wouldn't purchase any production that had this in the Terms of Service.. Then they could theoretically take anything you say and deem it hate speech and ban your account.  In America Free speech is protected and you can't ban it or take action against someone because of it just because you are taking offense to what is being said.  Players can simply mute their squad very easily.. Just to be clear I'm not just some salty guy who has been banned for this or something.. I just saw the thread and was curious about it and am putting in my thoughts.

@kERTunkk First, your definition of free speech is not the same as the one in the Bill of Rights. For example, according to you it would probably be okay to yell "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater because you might find that funny and say the rest of us are all Karens for not getting the joke. But the U.S. Supreme Court would disagree with you. According to them it would be both unfunny and unprotected and you would go to jail.

Within the context of this game, there is no free speech whatsoever. It's a private platform which the owners privilege you to use, and you are privileged at their discretion. If you can't play by their rules then you can't play. And it isn't like they're asking you to sweet-talk every single person you play with. They're asking you to behave toward your fellow players with a basic level of civility, or with silence. Is that really such a high bar that we have to trot out tired misconceptions about the meaning of free speech?

You hit that right out of the park. Great statement and so true, wish more people could understand basic manners.

Going to go ahead and lock this thread as historically conversations such as this have not been productive.
