Bought new PC, am now unable to b-hop

Hi Guys,

I had posted this on reddit a couple days ago but didn't get any answers. I've been playing this game since day 1 and regardless of how anyone feels toward b-hopping and healing, it currently is in the game and is a useful mechanic.

2 days ago, I replaced my PC with a new rig (i9, 2080ti, etc) as it was time for an upgrade. On my old rig, I had been able to bunny hop almost infinitely, using multiple healing items in a row while gaining distance, etc, etc. It was extremely easy to do.

Now, since I've switched to my new PC, I literally cannot get more than one hop before my character loses all momentum. It's almost as if my player tries to continue sliding no matter what. It feels like my jump timing is off but I've been doing it for so long its all muscle memory - nothing should be different.

My question is - is there some setting in either Apex or Windows that I am forgetting to change that is preventing me from bunny hopping now. Again,I know exactly how to do it and have been successfully using it every game for more than a month now. I am stumped at what it could be and am becoming so frustrated with this. My mouse is a G-Pro wireless, and all my video settings are on low - vsync disabled. Not sure if thats necessary to know. Thanks for any advice, I am desperate here haha.

  • Anyway - I fixed it thanks to some help on reddit. Launch commands to unlock FPS max and refresh rate to monitor hz as well as forcenovsync. Works perfectly again.

  • It’s called bunny hopping haha. And healing while bunny hopping. Never heard a single person call it heal hopping. All these people, including yourself, talking about whether or not we should be able to do it. That’s not the point of this conversation. It’s painfully obvious that those against the use of it... simply aren’t capable of doing it.

Im all for anything that increases the skill ceiling. This is one of them and until it’s removed (which I doubt it will be) you should get used to it.

Please stop replying to this thread. Respawn has never once said its an exploit so I'm not sure why you think you can.

Actually the devs did publicly say heal hopping is not intended.  https://www.dexerto.com/apex-legends/should-bunny-hopping-removed-apex-legends-respawn-respond-473391

The only time anyone bhops in apex.  is to heal.  Its heal hopping not bunny hopping.    Titanfall universe already has fast movement.  Its officially an exploit,  but one that is not easy to stop cleanly.

At some point you have no choice but to rely on community to play honorably.   For example facit tourney didn't allow camping respawn for kills.  so heal hopping issue is what it is.  Maybe nothing they can do about it without inhibiting other aspects of the game.

I don't suppose Pathfinder's grapple was intended to be used the way it is. There's probably lots of ways players use game features in unintended ways. Wraith using her portal to send players off of cliffs is not intended. The devs must have know it would be used this way but that's not it's intended purpose.

Or in Battlefield, sticking explosives to jeeps, seat switching in helicopters.

It's only when players have a moan that the devs will 'fix' unintended gameplay. If nobody bothers about it or even notices then they might not fix it.

It is very simple to me, unintended gameplay is just that and needs fixing.  The problem is when people know it is unintended and the do it anyhow, hence an exploit.

    @unogobangbang

Unintended gameplay does not necessarily constitute an exploit. There's no need to fix it if it does no harm or causes distress.

The sliding jumping heal thing is probably going to be looked at because it's simply absurd and people are irritated by it. Plus, because of high profile streamers, everyone knows about it.

There could be lots of exploits out there that are far worse but so little known that the devs might schedule them for fixing later on.

I don't use the sliding jumping heal thing, but it doesn't bother me either.

    🤔

Yes, unintended gameplay is not always an exploit but in this very specific case I believe it is.

no harm or distress?  You mean as long as its a victimless crime? lmao.   There are lots of things that undermine fair play the devs can't do anything about.  That does not mean it is ok to do them.   This is an online mentality that really needs to change.  The self entitlements are due to the fact you treat the digital world different then the physical.  Nothing is perfect, nothing is victimless and there is no perfect pill to fix everything.
