Hey guys, some community members suggested a thread for discussion and theories around this season's Lore and the new Quest system.
You can find info on the new quest system here, and you can che...
Hey, here's the next transcript. Be sure to play the event first, there's a spoiler for something that happens.
Mirage: "Mirage for Wraith. I repeat, this is Mirage for Wraith. Do you copy, Wraith?"
"Today’s the day, I think to myself. Today’s the day I finally snap and kill him."
Wraith: "Go for Wraith."
Mirage: "...whatcha doin’?"
"Yup. Definitely the day I kill him."
Wraith: "Same thing I was doing five minutes ago when you asked. Running surveillance on Octane’s “date”."
Mirage: "Yeah? We’re fighting prowlers. Scary, nasty, rabid prowlers. It’s really exciting. Not as exciting as… chaperoning a date. But exciting."
Wraith: "I’m turning on the recording device. Don’t radio in again."
Mirage: "Is your heart racing? Is your adrenaline pumping? I need updates every 60 seconds!"
Wraith: "Here’s an update: it’s not going so well, and you’re not helping."
Mirage: "Oh no! Is it an appetizer crisis?"
Wraith: "Good-bye, Mirage."
Mirage: "Did he eat his salad with the wrong fo--?!"
"I disconnect the comm. Turn my focus back to Octane’s “date” with Yoko. She’s the Chief of Staff for Cheryl Amacci, who heads up Hammond’s legal department. Basically, she’s the woman who makes it easy for Hammond to get away with. . .everything."
"And we sent in a guy with all the subtlety of a jackhammer. . ."
Yoko: "So you said you had a question about one of Cheryl’s meetings last week?"
Octane: "Cheryl Amacci, right? Yeah, she had some secret meeting with the new chick, Loba. I’m supposed to ask you what that was all about."
"Note to self: Never send Octane undercover again…"
Yoko: "Oh, I see. So the only reason we're out right now is so you can find out details about my boss's meetings behind closed doors, and totally put my job at risk. Why am I doing this again?"
Octane: "Caaaaause… I can get Lifeline's autograph for you?"
Yoko: "Why would I care about Lifeline's autograph?"
Octane: "Caaaaause... I can get Bangalore's autograph for you?"
Yoko: "For real? Bangalore never hangs around for signings after a match. That would be a collectors item for sure. Are the two of you friends or something?"
Octane: "Sure. Two peas in a pod. We’re like twins."
"Damn, Octane. You make a terrible spy, but you stumble into wins more than anybody else I know."
Yoko: "Well . . . you didn't hear this from me. But my boss wanted to talk to Loba about what she was after in that warehouse under Skull Town: something called a source code."
Octane: "Uh-huh. Cool."
Yoko: "Apparently, this code was teleported out of the bunker by some kind of security system before Loba could grab it."
Octane: "Awesome. Nodding head."
Yoko: "My boss can get Loba the coordinates where the source code went. But she wants something in return. She wants-- wait, did you just say ‘nodding head’?!"
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT NOISE?!"
"I rip the headphones off. Are my ears bleeding? Damnit, where’d that feedback come from?!
Mirage: "Mirage for Wraith, do you copy?"
Wraith: "Damnit, Mirage! I said not to radio while I was working with the--"
But what he tells me next stops me dead in my tracks. I waste no time, open a portal and appear behind Octane, startling Yoko.
Wraith: "Change of plans. We gotta go."
Octane: "Oh good. I was dying of bore--"
But we’re already moving through the Void. I relay Mirage’s message to him. Two words that send a chill down our spines:
Wattson’s down.
When we get to Mirage’s bar, it’s chaos.
Wraith: "What happened?"
Loba: "We were stationed inside the--"
Wraith: "Not you. Path, what happened?"
Pathfinder: "We were scoping out the nest. Wattson told us she was going to plant fences. We didn’t realize she went into the building."
Pathfinder: "By the time we got inside, there was nothing to do but be sad."
Pathfinder: "I’m still sad, friend."
I see Caustic standing over Wattson’s bed. I look to Pathfinder, confused.
Wraith: "Not the guy I expected to hold vigil."
Pathfinder: "He hasn’t left her side since we got back."
"I don’t keep many friends. The girl in the bed is in my top three. Caustic: acknowledges me with a sad nod of understanding. It’s a look I’ve never seen on his face before. It's almost... sympathetic. To everyone else, he and I are outsiders.
To Natalie, we’re family.
Somehow, we got on the bad path. Now how do we get off it?
Loba: "She’ll make a full recovery. What matters now is finding the other half of the Gemini--"
Caustic has her pinned against the wall by the throat before I even realize he can move that fast.
Caustic:"Should Ms. Paquette’s condition worsen, you will live out your days so unrecognizable, you'll beg me for death."
She gasps when he drops her. Her hand presses to her throat as he storms out of the room.
Wraith: "Is this all worth it, Loba? All these pieces? This artifact? Is it worth all this suffering?"
Loba: "It’s everything."
Wraith: "Why? What is it?"
Loba: "I already told you, all I know is that it’s a piece of tech--"
Wraith: "I’m not talking about the artifact. I’m talking about the source code. What is it?"
Her eyes go wide when I mention it. I struck a nerve. She opens her mouth, starts to say something, but…
...a different voice answers.
MY voice. Three words.
“He’s above you.”
And I know who it is before I even have a chance to look up. . .
Revenant: "I have a better question, girlies… when were you going to tell me there’s a whole world out there where I’m worshipped like a god?"
And as I reach for my kunai and try to piece together how long he’s been up there, I realize I was wrong earlier. This isn't the bad path we're on. . .
@EA_David AAAAA “Should Ms. Paquette’s condition worsen, you will live out your days so unrecognizable you‘ll beg me for death.” “He’s above you.” Things are going down.
@Luxxtenebri just please if you are not interested in the lore or a backstory, just don't post in this thread keep us nerds discussing this, and you go enjoy the gameplay or play something else.
so back to the thread, man this one was so good the moment when they announced Wattson is down and it's a canon thing in the story, although I saw her go down while playing the mission, but didn't accept it to be and actual thing in the story it sent a chill down my spine. and when Caustic pinned Loba against the wall even Wraith was surprised.
@Sir_Named as I said earlier, Loba were hired by Hammond for the artifact which is most likely is in exchange for Revenant "source code" location.
I didn't expect Revenant to join the scene this early in the story. things will change now.
Loba will for sure will lose some of her allies, after Wattson's injury some of them may find it's not worth it, and now they aware that Revenant is into them, no one wants a super robot Assassin into him as outside of the ring they are not safe from death and injury.
some facts:
1, Mirage annoys Wraith, just being himself..
2. don't send the the most direct and impatient guy on a spy mission, that was hilarious.
3. Caustic care deeply for Wattson.
4. Wraith consider Wattson a close friend, and they no she see's them as a family.
5. Octane is good at the apex games and he manage to grab many wins since he joined the games, even the ones who were their before him.
@Zeues-1992 I wonder how they're going to come back from this. Revenant did literally just drop in and say hi. Are they going to fight or something?
Some legends will probably leave for some of the quests, but I doubt any of them will be out of it for good.
The big question now is how does Hammond know about the artifact? It is in another dimension, plus why would they want that specific artifact if they could just travel to some futuristic dimension or something like that. Things get weird when you pull alternate timelines and dimensions into the mix.
Another thing, since Wraith can just slap a portal to anywhere, does that mean she could just bail on our reality if it suited her? Like Rick from Rick and Morty. Would Wraith do that? She did say that this was the worst path they could've gone down.
Another question with the Wraith timeline thing. Is there like a megatimeline? Because if there's a timeline in which Wraith travels to another timeline and for example moves left, would there be another Wraith that travels to another timeline and moves right?
And let's take a moment to consider how stealthy Revenant is. Wraith, in all her interdimensional precognition, only noticed him right before he revealed himself.
@Sir_NamedIt's not so much a time travel rather than otherworldly travel, yes she can travel to a world where things have yet to happen and is "younger" than hers. But events are happening all at once once they happen she cant travel back to relive it unless it's another younger world. But it does raise your very good theory into question is she attached to that particular dimension. If there were a better one where she could prevent the events there that transpired in this one to rescue friends that aren't the same but still similar.
Also do we know she hasnt done it already? Each time she void jumps, does she return to ours or opt for the other and we get a new wraith each time?
Back to the dialogue, I think we can fully dismiss caustic as a traitor if there is indeed one.
Yoko did indeed get some info from octane which she may relay to hammond, unless she values Bangalores autograph more than anything her job can offer. It is a collector's item after perhaps even the only one of kind.
The source code- obviously revenant head, so hammond is using the legends to kill two birds with one stone. They get this artifact delivered to them, and in exchange they get her the revenant source code for loba to destroy. Which will take care of theyr assassin problem and if it goes wrong revenant will be more focused on loba who tried to destroy him rather than immediately going after hammond.
As per how hammond knows about the artifact when we left king's canyon I think they used the void research to send an exploratory mission to retrieve it after learning of it. If you remember in the first hunt there was an attempt to get the artifact before we got there. So they brought us back to get it after the other dimension proved too dangerous. In addition only certain points may be accessible in other worlds (sihng labs A, sihng labs B, artillery A, artillery B ect.) Which is why wraith was needed. Hammond could only access the labs with the void technology there.
And finally revenant now knows now we must wait to see whether or not he wants that power for himself, leading to an unparalleled (or rather paralleled get it?) Fight between the two simulacrum. Or if their is some simbilance of a conscience left inside him and reject the power.
Also I loved the lore given this week I didnt wanna stop reading.
@Zeues-1992 I don’t think Wraith was surprised that caustic did that. From the text she was surprised at the speed that he did it.
And the wins thing from Octane, personally I think she meant more ‘individual victories’ of random things like ‘successfully making a cake with no effort’ or ‘win at bingo’. Such wins.
@Sir_Named that’s the crux of Wraith’s power. She has the ability to go into the multiverse and see how each move is played out... but either she cant go in the future to see what events transpired or she can.
I think she can’t but she just goes to past dimensions to know what her next step should be. This may be why she didn’t know Rev was here because this was the actual first time she was at that point in time OR this was the first time they went with the loba route (digging up artifacts). Cause, remember, Rev could’ve been there for the whole conversation and just never looked at Wraith until he wanted her to know.
By worst path I think she just meant that Rev already knows...
@Koochi-Q thanks for stopping by in this thread, was stating fun facts of the chapter, but you got to admit even if wraith wasn't surprised by what he did but by his speed, respawn surprised us all with this emotional side of caustic.
@Sir_Named@DK9027@Koochi-Q Now about wraith and revenant in incident, if you go back to the voidwalker video. Wraith doesn't just travel to the past or future, the multiverses are going on in parallel time line and each can have a different outcome depending on the decisions of the people in it, the ones we know about is,
- Fight or freight dimension were revenant is "worshiped like a god" or so powerful somehow and their is some important artifacts buried there. - the dimension that the voidWalker wraith travelled to and helped the current wraith we play with where the IMC have still functioning labs and military on world's edge. - the current dimension where the events is going on.
So any wraith currently in the void can speak to other wraiths if something going around them. If in case maybe they were experiencing the same event or was around the same location while in the void.
About wraith discovering revenant, another wraith must jumped in her void for some reason and saw him and told her. The worst path part must her own opinion on the situation.
@Sir_Named I've got it now! Plain as the nose on my face. You heard it here first 😃
The artifact is indeed a new legend, but with a twist. They are not adding a new legend next season, but modifying a recently nerfed one.
It is a new head and "brain" for Pathfinder. Will they rename him? I'm not sure, but I suspect he will no longer be our much loved happy go lucky robot. Perhaps the best analogy would be his evil twin.

@Zeues-1992 What are you guys talking about with the "worst path" thing? It just means that this is one of the worst possible (and reasonable) outcomes.
@Sir_Named Don't you think going against revenant face to face outside the games un-armed probably is the worst outcome of any situation. Even she didn't see what other wraiths are facing I don't think things can get worse than this.
@Zeues-1992 Well, there is probably an outlandish outcome where idk, the sun happens to explode at that moment or, some alien race accidentally shoots a planet destroying weapon at them.
(This also plays into the weird nature of crossing alternate dimensions/timelines.) Or Revenant from others world somehow travel there. This is why the traveling parallel dimensions is weird. Since the other Revenant is in an alternate dimension/timeline, would there be another timeline or something where Revenant travels to "our" dimension and does something different? It's weird, I should probably make a diagram.
@Zeues-1992 Nahhh, respawn didn’t surprise me! YOU’RE TOO GREEN ZEUES! Everyone who knows Caustic knows that if something were to befell Ms... frenchname... that he’d get at least out of character as he stated that he has admiration for her as a fellow scientist. Those words... coming from a guy inept of liking or anything positively labeling other than things dead or dying says enough :P
Yes the voidwalker is precisely why I formulated my msg the way I did. As you said, she ‘sees’ multiple outcomes and thats why I think she can’t see into the future and that the arc she’s in was unprecedented, hence Rev could sneak without her knowing until past-Wraith-from-other-dimension had same experience where she did see Rev at that point so she warned this Wraith.
I do agree on the worst part tho but also sticking with my theory about it because my buddy Rev has center stage 😜
@Sir_Named I’m not a big social media guy so I wouldn’t know xD. Basically Only tweets I see is from Apex team on occasion. But yea I know their connection goes deep...
Isn’t it funny that all the scientisty ppl stay together and consider themselves a ‘family’. Yes ppl Wraith was/is a scientist
First time post but I do enjoy reading about the lore in here but I have a question about the second quest.
Why can you not play as crypto? But you can play as octane or wraith?
I thought octane was on his “date” and wraith was on coms with him while they were on this mission according to the text after you complete it? As wraith goes in the void to get octane and tells his Watson is down? Would make no sense if they played the mission...
@Miketchapman That’s the part I didn’t get either. I have no explanation for that. Maybe Respawn disallowed some of the wrong ones to be chosen.
The reason for Crypto tho was likely because he could drone out of Cage and see what Wattson is doing. If she’s actually shooting that ‘sniper’ or if those beams just randomly appear or something

Yeah the crypto thing makes sense maybe they could of just disabled his drone or made it impossible to get out... the wraith and octane thing is disappointing as they disabled Bangalore and revenant for obvious reasons seems like a bit of a plot hole in an otherwise fun story.
Looking forward to the next one!
