BUG / FALSE POSITIVE BAN - Outplayed (Overwolf) overlay crash

Hello everyone and EA Community Managers,

I am writing here out of desperation because the standard TOS support system is stuck in an automated loop, sending me the same bot replies over and over without any human review.

On April 25th, my main account (EA ID: Stehello) received a ban for a false positive triggered by a severe technical conflict. I am a veteran player (I play since day one, linking my PS and PC accounts) and I have never used cheats.

What happened:

I was playing while having "Outplayed" (an Overwolf app used strictly to record gameplay clips) running in the background. During the session, the Outplayed overlay encountered a major error, causing my screen to go completely black and making Apex Legends almost crash. I managed to force-close the overlay window, but the background process remained active. I stepped away from the PC for 20 minutes (AFK) and returned to find my account banned.

It is extremely obvious that the Anti-Cheat system flagged the memory conflict or the hooking failure of the Outplayed overlay as unauthorized software.

The TOS team refuses to manually check the process logs of that session. They just click the automated "deny" button. I am asking a Community Manager here to please escalate this specific technical issue to the Anti-Cheat team so they can actually look at the logs. You will see a software crash, not a cheat.

Please help me, losing years of progress and thousands of hours due to a clipping software bug is incredibly unfair.

EA ID: Stehello

Platform: PC

Date of incident: April 25, 2026

Edit: Moved thread from bugs forum to general. This is not a bug. -CM

Unfortunately, we can't help with bans here. The best I can recommend is submitting another dispute. If they are repeatedly not finding evidence the ban should be overturned, it will need to remain in place.

  • Hi, thank you for taking the time to reply.

I completely understand that CMs cannot directly overturn bans and that the ToS team handles these issues. However, the reason I am reaching out here is that I have already followed the instructions in that article and submitted multiple disputes, unfortunately without success. I know that human agents review ToS appeals. However, since my appeals are quickly denied with the same general response, I am deeply concerned that the investigation is only confirming the surface-level Anti-Cheat flag without looking deeper into the actual process logs. On April 25th, I experienced a severe game freeze/black screen. I can't be 100% certain of the exact technical cause, but the only different variable that day was my "Outplayed" clipping overlay acting up and freezing over my game right before the issue. I strongly suspect this software conflict triggered a false positive.

Since the standard ToS route hasn't been able to investigate this specific anomaly, I was hoping to report this potential detection error as a technical bug rather than a standard behavioral dispute. Is there any way for you to forward this to the Anti-Cheat or Technical team as a bug report, so a technician can analyze the actual logs from that specific crash?

Thank you again for your time and understanding.

Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to say, we can't help with bans over the EA Forums. Please use the instructions in this article to submit a dispute. ToS will perform an investigation to see if the ban can be overturned.
