@Cheese9Manhow is it balanced if i can put the 2x-4x on both a flatline and a sentinal. bocek is in between those two range -wise i would say. why exclude it. its a marksman weapon
In essence - because it's a bow that doesn't behave like a bow at all and like most video games, it's designed by people that often don't shoot at all or do research. And when they DO, they often have to change it BECAUSE it's a video game.
IRL, I hunt. Depending on the type of game I am looking to stock my freezer with, either 20-gauge shotgun (short to mid range, 35 yards to 100 yards), .22 LR (close range small game only at about 25-35 yards, I can push 50 with just irons but it's hard because 22), .308 Winchester Bolt action (medium to long range, 100 yards to 250 yards, for me. Others can do even longer), or a Compound Bow or Crossbow, which is short range compared to all my guns but the 22.
Crossbows usually come with a scope, or you can get one for it. They ZERO at 20 yards, and then the tick-marks below allow you to adjust for up to 35 yards. A compound bow gets no where near the FPS of a crossbow (unless you're inhuman and your bow is made from truck springs) so a compound bow is usually an even shorter range (this is why most folks bowhunt from tree stands).
The Bocek, however, looks like a bow but really fires like a completely silent .308 zeroed for 150 yards to me. I have, with default sights on the bow, when I played, regularly hit shots at 150 I can't hit with the freaking sentinel with a 6x.
Because for some reason, near as I can tell, the bow has nearly no "bullet drop" (even though arrows IRL weight a LOT more than a .308 150-grain bullet) but just ceases to exist at some distance past 150 meters.
I do not know why.
{edit}-- Ha ha ha OMG this game is crazy... according to the wiki the bow has a range of at least 300 meters to still qualify for headshots...

That's breaking crazy. Olympic archers compete at 50 meters for compound bows (70 for recurve) because any past that and you have to start arching your shots. But the Bocek, made of more space magic than the bows in Destiny 2, fire straight on for 300 meters!
CRAZY PILLS!!!
- Kyldenar4 years agoSeasoned Ace@hayhor I get why they do it gameplay wise - being able to snipe at range unheard is the ONLY way it's viable in a game side by side with LMGs. I love to use them on storm point to farm critters without drawing everyone for 200 meters.
But I'd argue that only an idiot brings a bow to a gun fight.- dSKyNafinchin4 years agoHero@Kyldenar But... but... but, Hawkeye!! Lol
But seriously, great rant about the bow, and insight into your own experience. That was a fun read! Like you said though, I get why they don't stick to absolute realism in a game like this. That being said, as an avid bow user, do you know of any games with realistic physics for bows? I would definitely be interested in checking out a recommendation of yours, because I think bows are fun- Kyldenar4 years agoSeasoned Ace@dSKyNafinchin Best 2 games I have played for more realistic bow physics of late is the new rebooted Tomb Raider games, and Horizon Zero Dawn (and that last is hands down the BEST single player story I have played since KOTOR 1, the big reveal, when it comes, is absolutely hearbreaking). I totally recommend both, and you can get both on Steam.
