Change of headset, audio becomes muffled/far away

Hi Respawn, Apex community,

I need help with my audio in-game. I was using the Corsair Vengeance 2100 Wireless headset for quite a while now. Audio was great and crisp in-game, footsteps and all can be heard clearly.

As the headset is quite old and sometimes disconnects for a few seconds, I decided to upgrade to the Logitech G533.

After the upgrade, the audio is terrible, muffled, like everything is far away, nearby footsteps cant be heard. I tried to find a fix via Google, Reddit, here, but can't seem to find any. Removing Ghub, uninstall/reinstall drivers, driver updates, firmware updates, turning on/off spatial audio, changing frequency, adjusting windows volume, but nothing works.

Then I bought another headset, the Corsair Virtuoso Wireless (non SE), and the result is the same like the G533 (tried it without iCue too). Tried reinstalling the game via Origins and Steam, both gives the same crappy audio, which makes the game unplayable with the new headsets.

These 2 new headsets works well with everything else (Chrome, YouTube, Twitch, Netflix, Spotify), except Apex Legends. The funny part is when I plug back in my old headset, the Vengeance, the audio is back to being clear, crisp and loud.

The 2 new headsets at 100% volume is no match for the Vengeance at 50% volume.

I've tried everything and anything I can find. I'm lost and frustrated.

Please, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR; new headset = crappy audio, old headset = great audio

  • @FarkEuu Congratulations, you are now experiencing what 95% of the player base have been suffering since S3.

Me and my gf have HyperX headset, works perfect in every other games and was working in apex legends well enough until they decided to mess up with the sounds.
But it's interesting that if you use your old headset the audio works fine, so it could be something to do with how your earlier headsets played the low pitched noises better than the high pitched ones. It shouldn't prioritize them anyhow, but if your old one works perfectly, then it really could be just that the audio is so f up that the bass screws up with the footstep sounds.
  • @FarkEuuMaybe you're using the headphone manufacturer's 3D audio thingy software? If you have those 3rd party software, turn them off as they make the volume lower to imitate the 3D surround sound.

edit: Okay nvm missed the part where you said you turned them off. Can't help much since I'm a console peasant.

It's really frustrating. Spending money to buy stress and frustration. OMG.

What's weird is the old headset works perfectly.
