I know what that is 🙂.This is a placeholder texture, which is usually small in size ( like 4x4 or 8x8 pixels), that's why it's so blurred. These placeholders usually have weird colors, so that they stand out and indicate situations where the actual texture failed to load. In this case, the minimap for KC failed to load and I think it might indicate some memory management issues(very likely from code), especially since it's there after the restart. I wonder if this always happens every time KC (or any other map) comes into rotation the second time during a single play session.Anyway, @Koochi-Q I'd say you should know the map by heart, you're not a noobie, c'mon :P

@hayhorsounding even more like memory management issue.To explain the basics: for the game to run fast, the relevant data is unpacked and loaded into RAM memory. But that space is very limited, so what isn't needed anymore needs to be cleaned off. Sometimes, it can happen for some data to not get removed, usually when some wrong code fools the cleaning manager into assessing that it's still needed. So, the next time when new data is loaded, it has less space available in the memory. As long as there still is enough space, hardly anything will happen, but if more and more amounts of data remain uncleaned due to the repeating the cycle, it can get to the point where there's no more enough space for new data and that's when failures start to happen, from missing stuff to abnormal behaviour and ending with freezes and crashes.. Restarting the game solves the issue because it implies cleaning the memory completely of all the game's related data.

@DarthValtrex I break records! Even going to main menu didn’t fix it. It was only fixed after I got kicked out of Apex and had to relaunch later on...

@DarthValtrex Luckily it was KC so I knew where everything was and don’t rely on minimap for orientation, but it is funky seeing it like that in full view mode as well as minimap on bottom xD

@DoYaSeeMe Yea, luckily I know the maps (unfortunately WE too) by heart... except for some places on olympus. It wasn’t so much an inconvenience as more of a ‘hey I’ve never seen this or heard about this before’.

Other thing was if someone pinged something, I could see it on the map if I opened it, but seeing the ping itself on the minimap wasn’t displayed at the right angle so that threw me off more than anything.

But thx for explaining. This has happend once on CoD map many years ago and thought it was funny as I thought ‘who actually uses the minimap’ and that was orange colored as well.

I got booted out of the game or else I could say if it would’ve stayed there even on other maps.

@MandatoryIDtag ohhh so it has happened to others (yea obviously, would be awesome if I’d be the first to encounter it), I never heard of it. In store and with pings? ;0

@DoYaSeeMe -string line memory error- or something like that used to pop up when I'd get it on my pings.
Might aswell be mandarin to me, figure it makes sense to you? XD
@Koochi-Q Yeah, usually gets fixed quite quickly but its happened on a few occasions lol. 😛
The ping one was particularly annoying, especially when pinging an enemy as it was real distracting.

@MandatoryIDtagHmm, this means that more than just the texture was missing. Maybe there was not enough allocated memory available to store all the data and some of the minimap parameters didn't get their values, therefore generating an error.

@hayhorPretty sure this isn't a connection thing, as textures are stored locally.
EDIT: actually if some connection problems would affect the normal process, preventing the correct memory cleanup, then...yea, kinda.
