As it's stated, Crypto is underwhelming can't change my mind. Yes he's surveillance. Yes he has EMP. If it wasn't for an EMP the character would be totally useless. We have Bloodhound. We have Pathfinder. Did we really need Crypto? The answer is NO. Not only does he render a team useless against another full team of 3 but against 3rd party clashes as well. Nice concept but for this type of game doesn't fit the bill or should I say build. Just one more reason for timid players to not engage even more. Leaving teammates without back up in crucial gun play. Wheres the gong? This character needs a swift exit.

If you're spending half the game aimlessly flying around in his drone then yes he sucks.So far i've heavily utilised the banner recover function and its brilliant, esp on early game wipeouts where you squad gets pinched between two other squads on landing.I've been using the drone as an emp trap when being chased, that works nicely.Also you can look at the legend banners around the map and it'll tell you if theres any enemy squads in your drones range(a huge time saver)Aaaaand if you leave it flying in an area it auto scans.Bottom line is crypto only sucks when his squad doesn't utilize him.

@ColdHours i've actually been playing with randoms as my pre made keep hogging crypto lmao.Sometimes he's utterly wasted i agree, but ive had a lot of good experiences playing as him with randoms. My only gripe is he becomes awkward to use in the last circle as all of his abilities become useless die to lack of breathing room and cover...which is fine if you can handle yourself..Not so fine if you can't or your gear is below par for whatever reason.

Like I said reconnaissance. Didn't know he could pick up banners. But who are we kidding. Randos can't even manage that in regular play let alone with an easy option. All these comments come from pre-mades. What did I expect. MAYBE when I decide for pre-mades my mind will change. Until then it seems like a wasted player.

Not entirely since he's a fundamentally different type of character, I still wanna be be able to play very aggressive with wraith, but I have been playing crypto more than wraith in ranked so far.

@ColdHours So far from what I’ve seen... basically noob randoms who want to look cool and play with him, makes him look like a thai massage parlor charging 200 dollars... for a session or an hour.

I do however also take note that most ppl haven’t played 10+ hours with him to know ‘how he should be used (by them)’. I’m under the impression, and you may prove me wrong, that any person can play with every character and be proficient with him/her in his/her own way. When I play bloodhound, I play differently than with lifeline for instance... but I’m good with both. Same can be said for Crypto. If a person knows how to hide well and spot well but sucks at shooting, he can drone the whole time. But that same method will not work for others who are more agressive. Same can be said for utilizing utilities or weapons.

So far, no random in my team has played the part of Crypto well imo. This will likely change somewhere next week.

I do agree that Crypto might be a bit hard to use due to the fact that you actually need to stand still while using his abilities but, there is a but, unlike King's Canyon, where there was a lack of hiding spots, the new map fits really good to this type of gameplay and to the new character!
