Yeah, I'm a Master! :P
So, why not, right? I mean, it's all going to change. It still took quite a bit of time.
What disappoints me the most wasn't the way it was achieved, but once I got to the rank, how similarly it plays to every rank since late silver. I get that there are more people in Masters than ever before, however, having had a few team mates, it does not change that nobody talks on mic, people don't use strategy and rely on strictly gun skills to carry the day, and overall, the difficulty of the match did not increase significantly since early diamond.
This, to me, is what happens not with this ranking system so much as it is what happens with any time based ranking system. The goal, since ever it started, for ranked is really simply to get people to log in. It has less to do with any particular skill than the time you spend online...which doesn't seem to reciprocate to any skill. Those who have good gun play always have good gun play, except mediocre gun play can always beat good gun play with, you know, thinking....
Apex has to be one of the most divergent games in what people think it takes to win, versus what it actually does. While Masters may be the new Diamond, or maybe even the new Gold, while I can't speak for any Predators, the ranked game to me is nearly the same through all ranks except the lowest.
