As far as in game, it's really hit or miss.
If you type something inappropriate in game chat and someone screencaps it then sends it in you may be banned for it. I would imagine that the ban length would be dependant upon how bad the language was... with permanent bans most likely reserved for slurs, etc. Same thing goes for voice chat if someone records it. Don't expect that there's no consequences for behaving that way just cause a few trolls you've encountered/reported have managed to stay under the radar.
Lastly, only you would know if you did something that would result in a ban such as what I mentioned above, exploiting, or cheating. If you really are innocent like you claim then support should be able to look into it and lift the ban.
@xTomboyRespecter, thanks for the answer. I genuinely believe I haven't done any wrong, I wouldn't ever use a slur etc. Your response was proper helpful though so thanks for covering all the possibilities.

@hayhor, yup, I just got an email saying I "hacked or exploited", so here's my complaint to EA in full:
To whomever this may concern,
I've just received an email claiming I have hacked or exploited using my apex legends account. I sent in a complaint yesterday regarding me being banned without explanation, and have recieved the mentioned email today explaining it.
I am no hacker, and no exploiter. I have been playing the game virtually since release, and in that time have never received any bans or complaints regarding my conduct within the game. I have never used a hacked client, nor exploited, nor done anything against EA's rules of conduct, which I read through prior to sending this complaint.
I am aware EA has been banning players for leaving ranked matches as of recent times. I must add I have left a single ranked match before, which I received a short matchmaking suspension as a punishment. I assumed the punishment ended there. This is an isolated incident, and was not performed to escape a ranked points loss but because the game itself crashed and the rejoin mechanic was not yet implemented into the game. I am also inclined to mention I was, and still am, a bronze player, so there would be no gain in me leaving anyways since I cannot lose ranked points.
Otherwise, as mentioned, my conduct record is faultless, so I am at a loss as to why I might be perma banned. It is truly gutting to lose a year of progress and money spent because of the game itself crashing.
If the isolated incident mentioned is indeed the cause for the ban, I see no need as to why EA would need to ban me twice for one incident. I am not asking for the ban to be completely rescinded, but to be reduced from perminent to match the limited severity and isolated nature of the incident.
Yours sincerely,

@SmileyGecko123just a quick disclaimer: I've never been banned in game so maybe I'm wrong....
but what's strange about your ban is that you're still able to log in, go to firing range, and only get kicked at champ select. From what I understand, being permabanned stops you from logging in entirely. So perhaps your ban is only temporary. Support are the only ones that can tell you for sure though. They might even be able to give you a bit more detail about your ban other than 'you are banned'.Personally, I'd be asking for more detail at this point given the response you've recieved. They should be able to tell you that your account triggered the anticheat, you were exploiting, or some other reason.
