@Cro_PitttCongrats! Can I help you stay stuck in Diamond?! I guarantee you won't gain any RP with me on your squad.
@KelRiever I don't think that's necessarly true. I think your average and slightly above average players can make it to platinum no issue. Going beyond platinum is a whole different challenge.
Ranked and PUBS are two entirely different games. Ranked there 8 squads left in the final ring and you have no idea where or how they found hiding spots.
PUBS the round is almost over by round 2 and typically done before round 4 even starts.
PUBS I can run around with crazy loadouts, like duel triple takes..
Ranked I need a volt or 99 and a longbow or G7.. Anything else just won't cut it.
Playing ranked especially platinum lobbies will make you better at the game. When you go into PUBS after hours of grinding ranked you'll shred everything you see.. The only way you'll die is if you get overwhelmed by multiple squads and even then it can be questionable. I've been putting a ton of hours into ranked. Burnt out and switched to PUBS, I've had 3-4 900 damage games and a few 1500-2200 damage rounds. Sitting here thinking, hey why can't ranked be this easy?!

Well, we'd need stats @DarthValtrex , because for example, in Overwatch...your average player for sure is Gold according to their stats for where their players are ranked. And everybody calls the ranks below them trash and the ranks above them good in that low brow community. I just don't really have time to bother to try to rank to Diamond, when your placement at even 5th can't carry your debt. I think that's a fairly terrible system, given you are, again, supposed to be playing people equal to your skill.
Having said that, yes, generally Plat is where you start to play the game. But I'm a little appalled in how there are plenty of even Diamond players I get who don't even bother to mic up. And, by the way, how many Diamond Horizon solos there are. One really god awful thing about Apex is that of the universe of characters used, so few are chosen. And like most game companies, they can't get over how off their own designs are so they tweak in only small increments.
It's the excuse of the ego of game design...that certain things need just a little tweak and then they'll be fine. Because it saves you the excuse of that you might have done a really bad job (like Rampart's design, for example).
Anyway, it doesn't matter. I try, and you know, in pub land, I won't bother with Diamond. And while I do play with friends and will do my best with them, I don't play with others long enough (which would be like ALL the time) to justify caring so much. The game is fun enough, and go ahead, tier protect me because that actually encourages me to keep going.
- 5 years ago@KelRiever "generally Plat is where you start to play the game". i heard that and was unhappy to be stuck in gold 3 until i kept hearing of how bad players are in plat. i read plat players saying they want to be in gold instead.
- 5 years ago@gg123xyz there's so many bad players in plat simply because they don't deserve to be in plat. I've got so many teammates that would throw away key positions just so they can get a kill or two. Imagine having the high ground and the enemy team would be funneled through a choke point or risk getting fried by round 3 ring and my teammates would often jump down for some unknown reasons.
