Wth don't I get the next gun when I melee someone to death!??! Game gives me this trashcan Nemesis thing, way inferior to Hemlock btw, so I just run around melee'ing to get the next gun... but I don't??
Do Fuse/Caustic/etc. get the next gun if they kill people with their tacticals?
In my experience when you damage someone with your gun and then kill them otherwise, you get promoted. For example, a Sheila kill will count if you first damaged the player with your assigned weapon. Ditto for tactical ability kills. Perhaps this is being applied inconsistently, or has changed since the earlier iterations of gun game.. I guess when I have gotten melee kills I just felt happy that I'd demoted them, and didn't even notice I hadn't progressed myself. One thing I am sure of is that you had to first damage the enemy with your assigned weapon.
@CCbathwaterYou have to shoot someone with one bullet. As caustic I've progressed multiple guns by shooting 3 people to nothing and watching them die to gas, while I'm dead.
