Happy Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th Legends I hope your Friday is luckier than the ones the Knights Templar had back in the early morning hours of Friday, October 13, 1307 due to the actions of Pope Clement V and King Philip IV of France.

We are a few days into the new season and I keep hearing the woes of the Solo Q player and the new ranked system.

Now there are Solo Q players and there are solo players that Solo Q and it makes a world of difference to them with the new system.

If you are the Solo Q player that will try and work with your Randoms and the Randoms do the same with you then you are playing as a team and the changes should not overly affect you, the goal of the changes was in fact to encourage and reward team play.

If your are the Solo player that Solo Q’s you have a problem because you are playing for yourself and hoping your tag along teammates will or will not help you as you will probably not help them. These are the types that are hunting for kills. They are also the types that will suffer under the new system and will be found lacking in the team play skill department. They will either get lucky and rank up or invariably will be the ones that will not hit their last season high marks and keep falling down from their previous hard stuck D4 to platinum and back again or worse.

In theory I welcome the new ranked changes.

In practice I find the entry costs to be a bit to steep. Coupled with that I find the Rank thresholds a bit high. But that is just right now so lets just wait till the end of the split and see how it pans out. I have played purely Solo Q this season so far and have found that (small sample size) in 90% of my games my random teammates had made the adjustment and were willing to play as a team and also to play smart. That is great because I have only had 1 hot drop Harry experience so far and last season there was just to much of that style of play in ranked. Ranked is looking to get away from the ME. ME,ME experience and more to the team experience and so far I think it is working.

The almost all across weapon dmg nerfs and better helmet protection and nerf to headshot multipliers are almost non-noticeable. TTK is barley affected, I still can melt people and they can still melt me in seconds.

The armories are a cute addition if you can get to one with no teams nearby. If not they are a death trap, this needs to be fixed otherwise you are just looting for the team that is waiting for you to try and get out alive, you are basically free KP and free loot. Beware for the time being.

Have not played Newcastle so no comments.

If your team does not have Valk in ranked especially on SP you are missing out on something.

Lastly have fun and play smart, do not let yourself down, by letting your team down, by playing Solo my name is Rambo.

Good luck and happy hunting.

  • @Asmodeus566 Haha right?! I've always wondered why it tells me "X amount of players in queue". For the Firing Range? A queue? Isn't it just me in there? XD

  • @Asmodeus566 Happy Friday, friend! As to the Knights Templar bit, for anyone that is not familiar with the history there, go read up on it a bit!

As for the ranked changes, I'm just gonna copy my opinion from another thread: "I'm actually a fan of the new ranked system, because it's a more accurate measure of a BR game. These changes will hopefully reduce the amount of hot-droppers, simply because the early-game kills are not weighted like they were in previous seasons, as it should be. The entire point of a BR is to be the last team standing. Yes, kills help you achieve this, but they are not the sole factor. In previous seasons, you could drop hot, get a few kills and gain positive RP even if you placed 15th, which makes no sense. You didn't come close to winning, so why should you rank up? In the new system, your kills still get you 1 RP each, up until you reach 13th place, at which point they start to get the multiplier and carry more weight, as they should. Kills mean nothing without placement. The higher you place, the more points your kills are worth.

Ex: If you hot drop and get 15 kills and die in 14th place, you will get your 15RP for your kills. Congrats!! But you barely got out of the bottom 25% of the lobby. In that same match though, if someone wins with only 1 kill, they get 25RP for that ONE kill of theirs, plus the placement RP. Why should they get more RP for that 1 kill? Simple. That 1 kill got them the win, which is the ultimate goal of a BR.

As I have said in other threads though, I do feel that the entry costs for Bronze/Silver tier are currently too high."

As far as the solo-queue journey goes, I can't speak to that as of yet. I haven't played a whole lot of ranked the last few seasons, but in light of the new system, I am going to see how far up I can (mostly)solo. I'll reserve my judgment for when I have more data to base my opinion on.

I haven't gotten around to playing NC yet either, but my buddy was running him last night, and it was working pretty well for us. I was using Bangalore (challenge) and our random was Wattson. I went into the Firing Range last night after the session, just to test out his abilities. He definitely seems like he'll be fun to use from time to time, but the defensive Legends aren't really the best fit for my play style, so I likely won't run him very often.

Speaking of the Firing Range. Why in the world are my queue times for FR longer than for ranked BR??? XD

Well matchmaking is the problem here along with player count. You know it has to first have enough players for you to load in and they have to be of similar skill 😉

If you are solo Q'ing into the FR it might take longer 😉

In all honesty why is there even a Q time for this?
