Heirloom Badluck Protection

I have just recently bought the seer heirloom as part of the event that has just come out - i havent had an heirloom before this and was wondering if buying this reset my bad luck protection

Not only that, but if you didn't know, there is even a chance to pull shards from the event packs you purchased in a CE, just like with regular Apex packs. I'm not sure, though, whether or not the CE packs count towards the 500 pack counter (I believe they do).
