Seriously is everyone that plays this game out of their mind?!? People drop so quick and die instantly. It's insane. People think they're good and then they get 2 kills and die to join again and do the same thing. Please share statistics! Help inform your user base! It's at the point where you have to play ranked if you even want a decent game where people don't die within the first 30 seconds of the game. I bet most people that do drop that quickly all die and rarely actually win the game. It's sad, such a great game yet it's being wasted on terrible game play. Just make a smaller map where people that want to hot drop can and die right away can. The size of the maps today don't make any sense when 75% of the people die in the first 5 minutes of the game. This just keeps getting worse with each season/release.

If you don't get jumpmaster then you have five seconds in the drop ship to select "drop solo." Selecting it doesn't mean you can't drop with your squad. It means your sending a message to the jm that your options are open and they shouldn't do anything stupid. If you're on mic then you can actually say that, although it won't make you any friends. But sometimes the right thing to do is the unpopular thing to do. Every single match I play I drop solo and I stay alive until my squadmates get themselves killed or survive to third place where we meet back up and then take it from there. I know it sounds anti-meta, but it actually works. Unless you have some fantasy of making it to Diamond.

Has been since I started in S8 and probably before.I guess dying quickly 40 times in a row is worth it to those people for that 1 time when you survive and win.Hot dropping drives me crazy sometimes but at least I can just quit to lobby without penalty in pubs.

@reconzero Yeah, there'd just be two hot-drops. There still wouldn't be any actual gameplay. They need to just move these people into their own lobby, away from people who actually wanna play the game, then they can grief each other over there.

And yet, he used his common sense, he stuck with us, he tried to help in whatever way he could, and thanks to him, I broke the RP ceiling I was stuck under for the past 90 hours.See guys? It isn't hard. You don't have to be a god, just use some common sense!

If it's done properly, I'm game (up to a point). It certainly can be fun as part of a healthy balance of ways to start a pubs match, and does help train certain skills. If it's done poorly, I'm most likely exiting the game before even hitting the ground. Lots of people seem to think it's a great idea to late land on a hot spot, guaranteeing certain death. Landing well is a prerequisite for a hot drop to be worth. I'd prefer to go on the next match, rather than play by myself from the very beginning after the other two die and leave.

More people enjoy the rush of hot dropping than they do the actual game....most BR's are the same.

Seeing out a match on your own can be a great way to learn things about the game that you can't learn any other way. Not to mention that going on to the next match just means you have to start the whole meaningless process again. Because those next two squadmates are going look, smell, and act exactly like the last two.

@pandareno1999 I too just leave players that cannot jump properly. If they do a hot drop and drop properly I'll go with but I have looting spots in places like frag that mean I'll have a slightly better survival chance. If they die before I get to them I'll still play the match out. Playing solo or no fill teaches a player to be more aware of what they are seeing in front of them.

@HappyHourSumwur It's been a pretty common mentality since s1 my dude. Skulltown was the original hot drop spot, and respawn proceeded to add an area to each map to cater to hot droppers.
Back to the topic though,
Does hot dropping need to be catered to? Probably not.
Is there anything that can be done to prevent it? Short of forcing people to play a certain way....which wouldn't be healthy for the game the answers no.

@MandatoryIDtag The answer has been proposed by @Cheese9Man before many times: 2 (or more) dropships with paths that do not overlap, and spreading the squads out evenly among them.

I don't know. I think it would be like trying to break an addict. If they really want it they'll find a way. They'll drop as close to Frag as drop ship #2 will allow and then run as fast as they can. Or they'll just create a second Frag at Syphon or Harvester or wherever it is they can reach. You can take Harry out of the hot drop, but you can't take the hot drop out of Harry. So to speak.
