How do you deal damage with the peacekeeper?

The pk came up in gun run tonight, it was a very bad cheater lobby, so I had to sneak around to get kills.  The pk was the third gun, so I was stuck on that gun since it did 9 damage when my opponents always downed me with 1 or 2 hits.  

I haven't used the pk in awhile, but I remember it doing a lot more damage than that at one time.  Was the low damage because I was hitting cheaters that had a script to reduce their damage or is there a way to fire the pk and actually do some damage?  I was able to use the R301 and Hemlock just fine in the gun run and I was able to move fast enough to avoid a one shot, but the pk just doesn't do enough damage to kill an opponent like that, and during reload I just get one shotted.

Is it rng how much damage it does and I just got a bad luck streak, or can you get closer to the opponent and squeeze off a few shots to maybe get a kill?  I thought maybe the circle getting smaller on the reticle was the secret, but I tried it with the circle closed and open and the damage was still 9.

Any help or tips would be appreciated if this gun comes up in gun run again?  Gun run is my favorite mixtape mode now when it has legit players since it gives me a chance to warmup on every gun, and I'd hate to have to stop because I can't use one gun.  The sniper weapons are a problem too in gun run, but they at least do huge damage when you land a shot.

  • @AymCTL Snipers are the biggest "what the..." thing in GR. Why are they there? It's a cqc mode! Kraber especially is abysmal in GR. I have zero clue why they'd remove the easiest hip-fire sniper for the one that only does 140 dmg once per 5th second, while fighting someone with an smg and 150hp. It can only win a fight if you find someone low or shoot their face clean off.
    The PK; I actually feel it's been silently buffed this season. I rarely see the 9's this last week.
    Anyway, the secrets of hitting? Don't know. It's sometimes better to relax and let someone move into the reticle rather than chasing them around with your reticle, as it's a very slow gun and you die if you miss once, or twice if you're lucky. It's a very backbone/muscle memory kind of gun, I feel.

    Yeah, I think it sounds like I was shooting people too far away. Maybe the PK is more likely to hit at 9 when close up. Sniper weapons like the Kraber make no sense to be in gun run, I agree.  I try to shoot people with it, but usually have to rely on squad mates to finish them off.

    Thanks for the advice, I think I'll try to work with muscle memory in the firing range and see what numbers I can get both close up and further back.

    @AymCTL PK is better up close if hip firing or fast ads firing. It only works well at distance if you wait for the choke to narrow the spread.

    As for the kraber.....Barrel stuff it in their chest, hit them and then melee. You will still move off the gun and they will go backwards. Or play from distance and hope for a week person hit.

    @AymCTL You're not alone when you lose a fight because your 5 PK shots did 9 damage when it could have been way more. I've been there many times but after playing Pathfinder for a long time I realized that every time I grappled and got on the face of my opponent while moving forward the shots were more consistent. So when I have a PK now instead of strafing and trying to dodge the shots to then hit mine, I simply slide forward, ads and try to aim for the chest. It feels like the bullet spread it not that wide and I've been hitting more consistent shots that way. Of course, it's not gonna apply to every situation, but when you have a chance to slide forward and shoot instead of strafing, you should try that to see if it helps.
