Revenant has always been one of my mains ever since he first came out back in S4 & he was an OP character up until they decided to brutally nerf the time his Death Totem Ultimate. The best part of Revenant's gameplay was the big risk, reward aspect upon hearing or seeing unsuspected enemies was implement your Death Totem Ultimate & then hit them with his his Silence Tactical so they couldn't implement their Tacticals & Ultimate's momentarily in return & let the battle commence.Unfortunately the time nerf was reduced to such a short timespan by the time you implemented it & approached an enemy/enemies it had run out effectively made it pretty useless but I always stuck with him because of his Stalker Passive ability where he has the ability crouch move super-fast,his climbing/mantling & his Silence Tactical abilities still made him a force to deal with & he is my 2nd highest kill count character behind Pathfinder. If I'm honest I'd have preferred Revenant had been given a tinkering/reworking around his existing Tactical,Ultimate abilities like increasing the time back on his Death Totem & make it impossible to detect to characters with thermal detection abilities.I mentioned in another thread weeks ago that Revenant Reborn should have been a Revenant 2.0 (a different character) & to keep the original Revenant rather than just stripping away all his abilities & give him new ones.
Upon playing Revenant Reborn for several days since the start of S18 I honestly believe his new abilities have made him a worse character than he was previously & when I heard several Youtubers claiming he is a far better character now despite them claiming that they never really liked playing him in the first place. His Passive ability 'Assassin's Instinct' is the same as before bar his ability to detect low health enemies (much like Seer's previous Tactical).Revenant's Tactical 'Shadow Pounce' is limited aerial leap ability that is far worse than Vantage's,Octane's,Loba's,Pathfinder's,Valkyrie's aerial abilities & I found his leap only really works effectively on small buildings & assisting mantling high walls. It's a personal choice but I found his old Death Totem Ultimate is far better (even with the nerfed time) than his new 'Forged Shadows' Ultimate where he looks like he's wearing a giant tomato costume. From what I have seen & played they tried to nerf Seer back in S17 by gifting him Revenant's 'Silence' Tactical whilst scanning consequently making Seer an even better character in what was an intended nerf. In return they gifted Revenant Reborn Seer's old Tactical ability where Rev can now detect enemies low on health. The results of unintended consequences by swapping Seer's & Revenant's abilities has made Seer better & Rev worse for me unfortunately.
