If you compare difficulty being accurate with a mouse with no aa vs two thumb sticks with no aa up close being the same then I just don't know if we are playing the same game... The issue with mouse players is they play with low sens. Upping your sens should help up close.
I play on 1800 DPI with ingame sensitivity at 1.1, basically just a copy of "Itz Timmy", but still find tracking quite hard. It's more or less to do with not being able to physically see my opponent in some situations.
I know over time with practice that my mouse & keyboard skills will grow, but I'm not comfortable and/ or confident enough suggesting that I like mouse & keyboard in close quarters combat, even a controller without aim assist.
If I'm on a controller with aim assist, I don't mental and/ or physically have to see anyone, I just know aim assistance will catch the target if someone is there (unless in certain Legend abilities, only like 2).
Without aim assist, sure it's harder to control especially up close, but I'm still more comfortable with it.

Have you ever considered how many controller players you kill vs them killing you? You are only seeing your performance from one perspective.
Yes, I have thought of that perspective. I mostly play solo, so it gives me an edge to where I can watch games without anyone waiting on me. I get to see who killed me and/ or how they play all the time.
Sure, It's hard to tell what input device someone is using, but one thing I noticed quite a bit is mouse aim in close combat misses a bit, but aim assist if it locks, won't let you go.
It's mostly to do with the tracking portion. If I'm tracking someone with a mouse it takes like 100 to 200 ms to adjust to that opponent's new location, but on my controller I don't need to really do anything.
All I'm saying is if aim assist isn't that big of a deal, then disabling shouldn't show signs of drastic effects in the controller population.

It depends on the game. On Black OPS 3 I disabled aa because the movement is slower. On Apex it is a struggle but not impossible. Maybe if the movement was reduced maybe 20-30% aa would not be necessary but who want's that? Thing is there are some holes in your argument about how you think aa works. The fact that even the recoil of the gun you're shooting with throws off the "tracking" completely. Another is that no matter how much "pull" it has on a target with stick drift like you mentioned no one plays with no input. Any, and I mean any input overrides whatever that "pull" effect was. It's impossible to play otherwise.
The real question is what do you aim to accomplish if aa was disabled in your lobbies? Easy wins? Not happening. I just don't get it. Match making will just pair you with another player to take said aa killer's place. That's how this works. And I can almost promise you the dude with his controller is not having an easier time overall unless you need more practice with a mouse.
That's why I say, mixed lobbies should not be a thing. It's not fair to either party to have different inputs. Why this is even allowed in comp in beyond me. Controllers feel the same way as you in PC lobbies I'm sure.
