I was simply saying you should wait until we get an answer before you use it.
- 5 years ago@DarthValtrex Yeah no problem, i won't use it until i know for sure if it's okay or not. appreciate it a lot! There are also some videos on youtube of it if u search "tap strafing with controller apex legends" or something like that. if u want to check it out, also check out snipedowns pedal and maping keys video. I guess it's pretty much the same. Again thanks for checking it out and helping
- DarthValtrex5 years agoHero (Retired)@Scarrletsix I've seen some of that stuff, I play on console so I'm not hugely familiar with all the third party software for PC. We'll get an answer on the topic, just have to wait for a CM or one of the other Heroes who's more familiar with PC and what's okay and what is not.
The thing is, just because a video on youtube that state something is okay, or that you can get away with it, does not mean that it is. It's best to go by the TOS rules and what's outlined there as that's what we know won't trigger the anti-cheat. - 5 years ago
Yeah i know, strike packs for example.... A lot of that * on youtube and thats hardcore cheating no doubt since it removes recoil.
It didn't trigger the anti-cheat since the game didn't freeze like it does when it finds a cheating script or find sus advices connected to the pc. Seen a lot of that on theese forums, headsets etc. get registered as a script by the AC and crashes the game xD
- 5 years ago@Scarrletsix I think that if you intend to use third-party software to make the game smoother, or easier, it is unfair to most players who do not use third-party software. Even this third-party software may be officially allowed.
Secondly, you mentioned that everyone can access and use this third-party software. This is very vague, because cheating is also something that every player can access and do, just whether you want it or not.
I think you start from considering whether you will be banned due to the use of this software, rather than considering unfairness to other players. I think your starting point is already very problematic. - 5 years ago@LaTencyBuLLyMe I'm not asking about your opinion if u think it's unfair, cause i think the possibility to tap strafe by just using the scroll as well is unfair. But if it's unfair or not is irrelevant.
Yes, but i'm talking about mapping keys not god damn aimbot or wallhacks or strike packs.
That's my question if it's allowed or not, not ur opinion if u think it's unfair, cause i think that m&k that they got the possibility of doing this with just the scroll and i't doesn't take any effort i even know how to do it on m&k it's easy as hell, but i don't wanna switch it up just because i don't have a scroll on my controller so then im seeing if there is any other possibilities that are allowed.
But if u look further above, they are going to check it out and see if it's allowed or not. I'm not asking if someone think it's unfair cause thats totally irrlevant in this scenario. If so they should just nerf the spamming of scroll to do this to make it fair.... cause it's unfair :PPPPP - 5 years ago
I gotta play devil's advocate here, do you think it's unfair to people:
- with no scroll wheel on their mouse that you went out and bought a third party mouse that has a scroll wheel.
- what about the Nvidia GeForce experience some people get better frames using that should we remove the ability to use that?
- What about a VPN some people get a better ping with it is it unfair cause that's also third party software and makes the game smoother
- Let us not forget about Visolve I use it for colour blindness, should we remove it so that only the games options for colour blindness are available.
- etc. etc. so on and so forth...
Tbh I'm just bored, also I'm pretty sure anti micro isn't considered cheating, you can configure your controller on steam to input just about anything including kb+m inputs and that's the platform the game is on. @Scarrletsix
- 5 years ago@lKogitsune_marul Yes those are also 3rd party softwares xD i was starting to get tilted on some of the guys above bragging about this beeing unfair, and someone thinking something is unfair is irrelevant in this scenario when what im talking about is possible on m&k wich is allowed.
Wait what can u add keyboard binds on ur controller with steam?? Actually didn't know that. - 5 years ago@Scarrletsix Yes, you are not seeking anybody’s advice, you are just asking a question about whether you will be banned or not. The question of being fair to other players is irrelevant. This shows that you are trying to ignore one thing that actually matters. What are the reasons for banning players? That's because players acted unfairly to other players. When you are asking if you will be banned from using third-party software, whether Respawn will ban you depends on whether the third-party software is fair to other players.
So being unfair to other players is one of the key points for you to raise this question! Secondly, of course you can reject any opinions you don’t want to hear, but in fact, when you raise a question that may lead to controversy, it will naturally attract criticism, and you cannot reject this part.
To @lKogitsune_marul
I think your example is very funny, Because you think I raised a small matter to a seriousness. But the problem is that some players have high-configuration computer equipment and a good network. These conditions are in line with Apex Legends' game requirements. And not every player can play well if you give him these high configurations.
Moreover, players with poor configuration and poor network choose to continue playing this game. There is no unfairness. It is Respawn’s job to determine what level/conditions of players should gather in a game. This work has been done very badly, and you can know it by experiencing SBMM.
Even if it is possible to reach a consensus that this is not a cheating. But considering that he wants to play easier than others. Then he wants to use third-party software that does not comply with the rules and is worried that he will be blocked. I have enough reason to think that he is unfair to other players. - 5 years ago@LaTencyBuLLyMe then they should just nerf the whole movement technique if it's not possible for all players. Cause thats also "unfair". Nuffsaid
- 5 years ago
Just play the game normally and you will be fine. If you need to ask if it's bannable or not then maybe you shouldn't do it in the first place. Those who seek an advantage over others with 3rd party programs are those who hard hit their skill ceiling and that's just sad.
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@Scarrletsix Eh each platforms offers advantages. PC gets better movement consoles and switch get aim assist. I'll trade my movement for your aim assist any day of the week.
- 5 years ago@E9ine_AC That scenario is irrelevant because of the reason the aim assist exist, but sure, i accept the trade easy.
- 4 years ago@DarthValtrex Hi Darth, I was scrolling through the responses and wasn't sure if a resolution for the above was given. Was the CM able to confirm if it was okay?
- DarthValtrex4 years agoHero (Retired)@WAH_WAA_WEE_WAA It's been a while. This is just my understanding, but any third party software can potentially lead to bans.
- 4 years ago@DarthValtrex Thank you for the quick reply! The only reason I ask is for tap strafe purposes only. Currently, you can map scroll wheel on mouse to do it, on steam ( which is a third party app) you can create a command that allows you to tap strafe. The only way you can do so on origin is using anti micro. So, why aren’t people getting banned on steam then? Thanks for any further insight you can provide.
- 4 years ago@WAH_WAA_WEE_WAA Steamconfig is not a thirdparty software and its available for everyone on pc with a controller. Antimicro contains stuff like recoil controll if i remember right wich is literally cheating and its also a thirdparty software.
- 4 years ago@WAH_WAA_WEE_WAA 3rd Party software can be defined by any degree, it is up to the company. For example; you buy a new USB keyboard and Windows installs the common keyboard drivers. There is no 3rd party software. However your new keyboard has programmable keys (macro keys) and you install the keyboard driver. Now you have 3rd party software driver with or without the intent to cheat. If the company has the driver on their blacklist, then you can get banned.
I run Steam and I really don't care for extra software slowing the game down, but it is the only way it will function on my system. Steam software launcher is also 3rd party software, apparently on their whitelist, but anyone could still get banned, from any game, for any reason. Remember this; first party is the game software, second party is strictly the OS, and third party is literally everything else you installed. While it is highly unlikely you would get a ban for installing a spreadsheet program, any company with the 3rd party policy could use it as a very pathetic excuse. - bloxstrapinfo216 months agoNewcomer
i am using antimicro on my game Roblox and through customized bootstrapper called Bloxstrap downloaded from bloxstraps.net and it is not considerd as cheating
