Knockout is a glitch fest

I just tried knockout for the first time.  Not only did my shots do nothing to the enemies (which is the usual experience most people are having right now in all modes of apex), but the enemies were mostly not even firing and just still.  I would hear two thumping noises and it would say I died.  We did manage to capture a zone, but the map (e district) kept glitching in places as well.

I don't know what this mode is supposed to be, but please fix the glitches because in the directions it sounded interesting.   Maybe after they fix the game they can do this mode again.  Sad it isn't playable now.

I always thought the cool thing about Battle Royale was that it's an elimination game type. So, apparently, is Knockout. But good luck trying to find out whether you're about to get eliminated or not. Obviously you can get eliminated by getting killed, but you can also get eliminated "just because" based on factors that are absolutely (imo) antithetical to what BR is supposed to be, assuming you value victory over points. In fact, you can stake out a spot, defend it successfully, and STILL not make the cut. What kind of message is that sending to players??? It's just as idiotic in its own way as Three Strikes, Revival, etc., and all the other LTMs that try to trick you into thinking you're playing an arena shooter. I get that people seem to love these things, but why on earth, if people love arena shooters, are they not playing REAL arena shooters? Shooters that maybe aren't as glitchy, or crippled by bad matchmaking, cheaters, and smurfs? Why are people so desperate to escape CoD, Halo, etc., and come to Battle Royale only to abandon the real Battle Royale game types in favor of fully kitted guns, seemingly infinite respawns, and now, with KO, arbitrary and pointless scoring systems that allow you to be a winner one day and a loser the next when you did the exact same thing both days?

@reconzero I've never successfully defended a zone and not moved on in the mode. The thing is tho there are multiple rounds and your points reset each round so doing it once will not be enough. There are also other ways to earn points, such as getting Evo and opening the red bin. Actually, opening the red bin in round 3 is almost a guaranteed advance as it gives 50 points. My friend will die and look for one when coming out of the ship. The mode is horrific with randoms. None of them know how to get or keep a zone. And none seem to get that on the final drop you need to land in a good spot relative to the last point, which is not in the middle. I'll only play it with friends.

As for why people like the other modes over traditional Apex BR. Because it's still BR but with a twist. This means you still get BR feels but with the good feels from other types of modes. For me there isn't one or the other and a BR doesn't mean it has to be a certain way. Heck each BR outside of Apex has different rules so you can't even say a BR has to be a certain way.

Every time I play one of these LTMs I feel like I'm seeing the bad movie version of a great book I once read. The book is full of characterization, plot points, maybe even a little action. The movie is just action, action, action all the time. Run and gun, run and gun, run and gun. Maybe you don't even have to run all that much. I don't know. I guess this is just the cranky old man in me.

I'd be the last one to say that Respawn shouldn't try new things, but it's starting to feel as if they aren't trying new things. They're trying one single old thing over and over again with, as you say, a slightly different twist each time. I can't help every single time feeling as if what I'm playing is "dumbed down" compared to trios. I get that they're trying to give me new things to learn, but I'd like it better if the new things were in addition to all the stuff I've already had to learn instead of making me feel like I don't really need any of the old stuff at all. Except the gun mechanics. Which, as you know, are not my favorite part of the game.
  • Ugh Knockout I can no longer stand. If you enjoy being canonfader, or are a sadomasochist. Enjoy!!

  • @AymCTL It's the worst mode for footsteps I've played. They do not exist. The people that land on you with no warning are crazy too. There's no landing audio.
  • @hayhor Once the event & challenges were over I stopped playing it. Yes it's fun if you get people who know what they're doing but if not you're better off soloing or leaving. I like the mode but with everything else in Apex it needs tweaks.
