Leaks and spoilers - Discussion

Apex has recently shown me why spoilers and some leaks, quite frankly, suck.

Yep, im looking at you, Defiance Megaleak.

For the uninitiated, someone datamined Apex back in Defiance (Season 12) and came back from the depths of Apex's code with legitimate unused Legends, some fully equipped with models and even their abilities, this included Newcastle and Vantage, both of which remained unchanged from the leak to their respective debuts in Apex.

There were a shed load of unused characters here, and 2 seasons afterwards and gameplay shown of the unfinished Newcastle and Vantage has proved to us that it was legitimate and not a hack of some sorts, we now know who the next legend is on the first week of the current season.

And this brings me to the teasers they like to do in game, I remember AFK'ing on the lobby screen in Assimilation Season 4 and seeing Loba creeping in the background behind the banners, I remember how they literally teased Seer at the tail end of Season 8 Mayhem during the teaser for Arenas in Legacy, I remember playing on Storm Point (god forbid) and seeing the ship get shot down and the  broken wing having a Salvo symbol on it to tease Mags,  I and many others remember getting bamboozled by Respawn during the Forge Fiasco. (that's the Forge arc's official name now dealwithit 😅)

Now that they're plans for future legends are out there for all to see, they might not see the point of doing in game teasers, heck, they probably already have, Vantage wasn't teased in game as far as I can remember, Newcastle was though.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with datamining and leaks, they can provide a pleasant surprise sometimes, but on a leak at this scale and being this unprecedented at the time, it really ruined the speculation and suprise that a new legend would normally bring.

Side note about teasers and spoilers: They literally revealed Vantage's SFTO cinematic early on the notices on the lobby screen, that was most likely an accident, but it just goes to show that spoilers aren't that great, in my opinion.

Anyway, that's my two cents on the matter, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. 

I'd also love to hear what your favourite legend/season teaser is, mine has to be how they teased Emergence, with the Exhibit drones and World's Edge shaking when at the waiting for players screen, brilliant.
