Lock mouse as input with controller

hi, I have the wooting 60HE keyboard, which has an analog feature, which basically mimics the movement of a joystick on a controller.

i have been messing around with it for the past few days, to try and get it to work in apex. i have no issues with any other games i've tested, yet apex legends is affected by the analog input, so that your mouse has some weird mouse acceleration artifact, in which mouse speed is VERY slow while moving, until speed exceeds a specific threshold. i know that this has to do with the game thinking im using the mouse as R-joy, but im not. this negative mouse acceleration artifact really affects close range combat, so i wanted to hear if there is a way to force mouse input like in fortnite, so you can utilize "double movement" in apex. movement with this in apex feels great, yet the mouse sensitivity artifacts just makes it really hard to play with.

  • @LNCY_kPhobos They've been pretty clear through their competitive rules that you have to pick one or the other. They do not want mnk movement with AA.
  • You dont get AA with controller/mouse hybrid - AA even if stick input is registred, then AA Will not function unless your “look” stick is being moved. This is disabled the second you start moving your mouse. the problem is that it starts affecting mouse sensitivity.

by having some sort of i put lock method would prevent this.

i know There are a few players with either nerve damage or some sort of other disablitiy, which prevents Them from using a keyboard, yet they prefer using a mouse for aiming, so they resort to using controller for movement, and mouse for aiming. This works in both cod and fortnite, but for apex it really just messes everything up

@LNCY_kPhobos Makes sense what you are saying. Is the issue lack of options or that the sensitivity just doesn't work?
  • @hayhor basically the mixed input interferes with the way your mouse functions ingame, it basically slows your sensitivity/holds it back unless you move it really fast. it does not matter if there is an enemy or not. this only happens when moving/strafing at the same time. the workaround would be to "lock" the input method as mouse, which basically nullifies the controller look, but maintains the ability to move around with the controller
  • @LNCY_kPhobos I have this same issue as well with the wooting keyboard. Just about every other game allows you to lock your input method to mouse or controller, but apex will auto switch between the two. This causes the game to get confused when you are sending mouse and controller inputs and causes issues with mouse aim. Sad that I can't use the main feature this keyboard was designed for in my favorite game. Knowing these devs, they aren't going to add this option to the game settings either but one can hope.

I wonder if there is a way to create a workaround using Steam settings.  Sorry I do not have any practical advice as I play on console.  Perhaps you can change the keyboard movement input to mimic "normal" digital WASD input from your keyboard.
