NA servers full of Chinese players?

I'm getting so much lag, my team doesn't understand me, all I see is Mandarin characters all over the place. We have regional servers for a reason, why are my games on NA servers full of 50% Chinese players this season?

@Yoko-Ono-U-Didnt I'm not seeing this playing on NA servers. Is there a chance you are being put on overseas servers?

Happened to me a few weeks ago in a Plat lobby. My server still said SLC, but everyone in my game was Japanese.

I believe in this case you were likely put in a game located in different region servers. Setting your region doesn't guarantee that you won't be given a match in a certain region in some circumstances.An example that jumps to mind is if you're playing at 5am your local playerbase will be much lower than at 6pm, so you might go into a match from another region which is more active.
If this happens consistently and at all times of day, a router power cycle might help, but otherwise
