Negative Apex Coins Balance – No Refund Requested

Hello everyone,

I’m posting here to ask for help and visibility regarding an issue with my Apex Legends account. My Apex Coins balance has become negative, even though I did not request or authorize any refund.

Here are the full details of my situation:

  • Game: Apex Legends
  • Platform: PlayStation 5
  • EA Account Name: Leader_F119

I have never used cheats, exploits, or any unauthorized methods in the game.

To clarify:

  • I did not request any refund or chargeback.
  • My purchase history is fully available on PlayStation (Sony), and there are no refund requests shown there.
  • My EA account was previously compromised (hacked) in the past, which may be related to this issue.

I contacted EA Live Support and provided them with:

  • My registered EA email
  • My platform and account details
  • Confirmation that no refund was requested from my side

I am currently waiting for the investigation to be completed, but I wanted to post here as well in case this issue has happened to others or if a community manager can help escalate it.

The negative Apex Coins balance is preventing me from making any in-game purchases, and I would really appreciate clarification on:

  • What caused the negative balance
  • How this can be resolved if no refund was initiated by me

    Hey leaderf119​,

    We have a bit more information about this situation in our Apex Coins article here, however the only situation where your Apex Coins will go into the negative is when you receive a refund or issue a chargeback for the payment method originally used to purchase those Apex Coins.

    In that situation, the equivalent amount of Apex Coins will be removed from your account. If your account does not have a sufficient amount of Apex coins to cover this removal however, then your balance will go into the negative for the remaining amount.

    If you did not personally request a refund/chargeback, you may want to check with anyone else who uses your account or with the owner of the bank account used (if it is not you) in case they requested this. It may also be worth checking with the bank or card company to see if they had reversed or placed holds on any transactions for any reason, such as the account compromise you'd mentioned.

    We are not able to make any changes to your account or discuss account details here on the forums, but if you've already reached out to support they'll be able to check any transactions on the EA account itself. Do keep in mind that we would not be able to verify transactions, purchases, or chargebacks through another storefront such as the PlayStation store. You can keep an eye out here for a reply once they've had a chance to look over the case, thanks!
