I have a friend who plays apex on a ps4 pro and he still gets plenty of frame drops.
It is definitely locked to 60fps and never falls below in worst case scenario.
Done a few hot drops with 4-5 other squads to test and never dips.
Would be interested enhancements they make for Apex in future.
- hayhor5 years agoHero@PeterN_UK That is good. Is it that noticable? I dunno but to me it will be better than nothing for now. Fortnite raised their output to 4k @60 hz for ps5 and 1080p @60 hz on xbox for release. No mention of 120 fps on it.
I hope apex goes the fps route over the resolution myself. Resolution is nice for racing games. Shooters need the frames. - PeterN_UK5 years agoSeasoned Ace
First thing you notice that ejecting and flight landing has no stuttering.
But to be honest when you're on the ground 45-60fps in the heat of battle not a game changer. Kind of felt the same. But you're right it is peace of mind 60fps means control input is smooth all the time.
Just wished they done a small patch to make it variable up to 120fps for sake of demo to really appreciate difference. No 4K option either. It is same resolution.
Well if in future they do patch - 4K does benefit even on a 1080p monitor by supersampling resolution. But there is already one console game where you're forced to choose 4K/30FPS vs 1080p/60fps.
But if I had better monitor and be able run Dirt rally at 120fps :D Damn that would feel insane. True FPS test.
AC Valhalla on dedicated PS5 edition. 60fps. No graphical options.
Watch Dogs Legion on dedicated PS5 edition. 4K/30fps..no other option. It had real ray tracing. Looks great but grr its 30fps and the character runs around janky. I would like to have option for 1080p/60fps and no ray tracing to avoid 30fps
I think with next gen if compromises have to be made then we should be given choice like PC players. 10/10 we go for FPS even in single player games. But this is down to developers.
Then there is this PS5 global setting. So vague on what are the specific compromises and gains here.
- hayhor5 years agoHero@PeterN_UK Thanks. If one of the stores let's me buy one I'll let you know what I see as a difference. Probably going to be 2021 by then tho.

I have been playing on my Series S since launch and on Olympus the game ran at a fluid 60fps. It would dip in the dropship below to the low 50s when looking at Rift and the mountain next to it. Other then that it was solid. However, Worlds Edge the frame rate has been tanking to like the mid 40s, especially in Capital City. Even in the dropship the fps gets pretty bad. I think more optimization needs to be done, at least for the series s. I am playing on a 1080p monitor so its not rendering at 1440p. Apex needs a lot of cpu speed from what I hear so hopefully the zen2 will help with that.
