How do the Bonus Heirloom Shards work?

When a player opens an Apex Pack, there is a 0.045% probability of Heirloom Shards dropping. Heirloom Shard drops do not deduct an Apex Pack from your inventory. Base Mythic cosmetic items cannot be crafted with Crafting Metals and can only be obtained by exchanging Heirloom Shards or unlocked through in-game limited time events. 

A player cannot open more than 500 Apex Packs (select eligible packs apply see table below for more details) without receiving Heirloom Shards assuming the player does not own all of the available Base Mythic cosmetic items available in the Mythic shop, or has enough Heirloom Shards to obtain any unowned Base Mythic cosmetic items in the Mythic Shop (excluding collaboration items). 

Once a player owns all of the available Base Mythic cosmetic items available in the Mythic Shop (excluding collaboration items), the player will not be eligible for this bonus and any packs opened during this period will not be counted towards the 500 pack bonus counter until more Base Mythic cosmetic items are added to the Mythic Shop (excluding collaboration items).

Please note that a “Base Mythic cosmetic item” is defined as any Mythic rarity item purchasable with Heirloom Shards.

These Pack Types do not count towards the Bonus Heirloom Shards:

• Collection Event Pack
• Thematic Event Pack
• Milestone Event Pack
• Collection Retro Pack
• Any packs that might provide replacement items

Please note - any Partnership Event Mythic Items (i.e. Apex x Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Event Buster Sword, Apex x Gundam Event Epyon Heat Rod, etc.) are not a part of the Mythic Shop.

While you are at a higher level, that alone doesn’t indicate that you’ve opened more than 500 packs, as packs aren’t awarded at every level. Another important factor is any free packs you may have received through Battle Passes, as well as packs purchased during your time playing.
