Do you think SMBB is necessary in fps pvp games? I do no think it is.PVP is competitive, there is only sweat, no casual mode. You want to win, get better.SBMM means the guy who spent 500 hours practicing headshots is playing someone who did the same exclusively 80%~ of the time. The bottom % who didn't put in the effort is no longer available to him. This is clearly to bridge the skill gap so to keep more players playing which is bad for comp fps.What are your thoughts?

@Unitee01 Yes. It protects casual and lesser skilled players and keeps people playing."Competitive fps" is all in people's heads. If you aren't in a tournament that pays money, you are not really competing, you are playing a video game.

SBMM in a BR is extremely challenging. 2. That they have toyed with turning it down and every single time they do, the total number of players online declines substantially, as does the amount of time played. It really only negatively impacts those at the top maybe the top 5% or so. I think it also might be noticeable if you're on the lower end of the lobbies you end up in. So if you're a moderately skilled player but on the lower end of skill level of moderately skilled players. Then SBMM is not going to be a fun/good thing for you. How ever if you're on the upper end of the moderately skilled player lobbies you'll like it.I have brought moderately skilled friends into the harder lobbies. They do not last long, they will play at most 3-4 rounds. They just burn out on getting 1 clipped by higher skill players.@hayhor I think many gamers are just competitive by nature. But I do think the whole streaming scene has made the gaming community a little toxic. Lots of people want to be the next shiv or get paid to play video games... They can't PUB stomp low skill players and make cool clips.

@Unitee01 The only people that would choose no sbmm mode are the top level. So you'd have the same issue. Those people would be in the same sweaty lobby.And if you think I'm saying this because I'm scared of those lobbies think again. I play with friends a lot and we are in those lobbies the majority of the time.

For example finishing top 5 over and over in pubs will move you up the sbmm ladder. Even if you do not kill anyone. I know this because I experimented with it no filling.

@Unitee01 SBMM is utter trash. I always had a K/D of 0,6, if I am lucky I get like 2 kills in 10 matches. Yet the SBMM thinks I can take on preds. Yeeeah right.

@AcidicSoda44031Now imagine yourself putting in 300 hours on aim training and some more in other areas and having to face players that did the same exclusively, 80% of the time. Would there be a difference between yourself and timmy two thumbs who wins every 4-5 matches, yet can't aim?

The SBMM needs to be based on more criteria. They cannot just base it on headshots and total kills. They need to count hit vs miss, analyze player strategy, and calculate growth over time. It would make the most sense in Arenas but less in BR. BR teams currently seem to be one superior player, one newbie, and one in the mid ground. Yet I have witnessed the superior player will be out classed by the newbie. If the superior player is based on kills, level, and headshots they are overlooking the fact the player has been in the game longer. For example; new player is level 10, has 4 headshots, and 20 kills. While the elite veteran is level 240, has 48 headshots, and 310 kills. The quick math here shows that the new player has 0.4 head shots and 2 kills per level. The veteran they got teamed with only has 0.2 headshots and 1.29 kills per level. Arenas need balance more so because of 1 vs 1 team. Battle Royal is less likely to need this but it would also be impractical on the scale of 1 vs 20 teams. Let's not forget how many BR teams will end up with one player wanting to separate from the team and go their own way. This alone handicaps the remainder of the trio now a duet. It only takes one member to screw it up.

@Unitee01 It is, I have brought lower and even mid skill level friends into the try hard lobbies on console. If they were not on the upper end of skill level for the game they would play maybe 2-4 rounds with me before leaving, asking to play an LTM or switch game modes. They get frustrated by constantly getting 1 clipped by people who can. I also get fatigued after a while.

It's not just about keeping people playing. It's about giving everyone an area where they can have fun and enjoy the game. It's not a competition game, yes they run competitive leagues but those are the best of the best.

Can't say I agree with a game being only enjoyable to a certain amount of high skilled players simply because they put in more time.
I work an 8hr job. I don't have time to grind away on a game to 'Get better' I play to have fun.
So I shouldn't have an enjoyable gaming experience because I have a life outside of apex instead of grinding away on a game in my parents basement??
If the game isn't fun to the majority of casual players, it will get dropped and you'll just be going against the hard sweats that stayed.
And while I don't think the lobbies should be baby easy, there's certain players I have no business being in a lobby with and it's no fun to constantly be rolled over by them no matter how hard you try to improve.
Imo this 'Get better' notion comes from a selfish desire to keep your own games simpler. You don't want to have to work any hard than you already have and you want your easy kills because for whatever reason easy kills are more satisfying than killing someone at your level. (Generally speaking)
What is even the point of a rank mode then? Even though ranked match making is just as bad, why have bronze, silver, or gold tiers if the higher experienced players can just drop into your lobbies and trash every team they come across?
You might not think it's necessary but I disagree, match making is an important factor that can make or break a game.
