@tommor1988I can't remember who but someone said the gun is very situational. I would generally agree that it is. It's strength is the mid-long range and there it's definitely a a very strong gun. The body shots could use a slight buff due to its slow fire rate. But again this is a sniping gun, accuracy should mean everything with it.
I sort of view it as a nerfed Kraber. It can 2 shot kill someone if you land 2 head shots. Even if they have purple armor.
I personally prefer the G7 still, even though it's an assault rifle. I find that most gun fights happen in the mid-short range. Extended long range shoot outs are just asking to get third partied in this game. This is especially true in ranked.. People are looking for easy kills and will flock towards third party opportunities.
My friends and I have had the most success with the sentinal if 1 person the team carries it. They hang back a bit and snipe, while me and the other player push. The Sentinel player breaks shields for us, we finish them off. But it's a risky play because the sentinel sniper is a sitting duck. If we get third partied we are already at a disadvantage because it's just the two of us.
The majority of the gun fights I get into are at choke points and during ring closure, which is close combat. Now I have been in situations in which no one on my team had anything for long range. No longbow or choked triple take.. We then come across a team who does and is in a position to use it. That is where the Sentinel has shined and it has pushed my squad into very difficult situations. But those situations just seem to be rare in this game, at least in the areas we frequently drop and hang around.

I’m with you, I prefer the longbow and G7. They are just better overall guns IMO.
The gun is a starting point. They’ll gather feedback and data then buff/nerf accordingly. I was landing headshots for 120 damage with the Sentinel. If they have blue armor one more tap to the body and they are knocked... If me and a squad mate are shooting at the same target they are done almost instantly.
But overall I feel like mid and longe range guns in this game just won’t be popular unless they have 1 shot knock capabilities like the kraber. The majority of the fights are in short/mid range.- 6 years ago
It's a good sniper. Shame it's bugged.
